+267 not eating meat really doesnt do anything for the animals. butchers are still going to keep slaughtering the same amount of it for the people who DO eat it, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not necessarily.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

omg i've literally always thought this! i've never had the guts to say it though haha it's more like a thought that's been lingering in my head for a long time! :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're really dumb. If enough people don't buy meat, profits will go down. If profits go down enough, the company will have to shut down and no more animals will be slaughtered.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Agent_eclaire):but that'll never happen so might as well not waste the meat and eat it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you think butchers are the only ones that kill animals, you're sadly mistaken.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's true; basic economics, supply and demand. Butchers aren't the only ones but they still do. And "might as well"? If you like meat, just keep on liking them; don't make a pseudo-logic argument

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's good for your health, though...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

eating meat? not necessarily soy meat alternatives are better for you

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's what I meant, lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh okay my bad. i'm sorry lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pretend you don't agree with smoking ciggirates. If you don't think it's right, don't take part in it but let the people who think smoking is okay keep smoking. /stupidpost.

Most vegetarians dont care that everyone else eats meat because they really have no control over that. But if they just get grossed out by eating meat and they dont buy it, it's not like theyre trying to get everyone to stop eating it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

this is probably directed more at people like me who love the taste of meat, but hate the idea of having animals killed for it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Supply and Demand. If people stop eating meat there is no demand-------> If there is no demand the suppliers will make less and so more animals will keep there lives. Don't get me wrong I love meat and can't imagine a meat-free diet, but your logic in this post is flawed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've been a vegetarian my whole life, and I still know this is true. Besides, eating meat is PART OF NATURE, so there's no reason to stop it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yea, but if a lot of people stop eating meat it will make a difference.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's all about supply and demand. People going vegetarian=less demand for meat=less meat supplied. However, it's true that a minority of people becoming vegetarian/vegan won't impact the meat industry much. What's more important is that as that minority grows, the demand for organic, free range, humanely produced meat and dairy as well as for meat and dairy alternatives grows which means the supply will be increased. All in all, that's better for the planet, for our health and for our consciences.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Your+name+(optional)): Oh, and also, with the growth in the number of vegetarians who are concerned about the inhumane slaughter of livestock and treatment of dairy animals, more pressure will be applied to governments to pass and enforce regulations to protect the well-being of farm animals and to introduce incentives to encourage organic, environmentally friendly farming

That's really a stupid post. I'm a vegetarian and that doesn't mean that you have to be one too. I'm just happy that I don't have to eat all that fat unhealthy food and that what I do is good for the environment. And that I think about what I eat and not just eat anything just because it's 'good'.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

this is stupid. Supply and demand is day one economics stuff, so yes you're wrong. For every one person that goes vegetarian/vegan, you save on average 100 animals per year. Do some research before you open your mouth.

It's about principles and not funding a corrupt industry.
