Yes an interesting paradox and therefore invalid reasoning. Like saying "this sentence is false." The statement itself becomes meaningless. The unraveling comes when you realize that someone can't "believe" in the absence of a thing. Anytime you are working with //absolutes// everything falls apart, as demonstrated by Bertrand Russell (logically) and Werner Heisenberg (physically). Essentially providing compelling evidence that there is a limit to certainly that is build into the very fabric of nature. Every system is either incomplete or inconsistent, so there is always a chance that things are not as they seem. Reminds me of the proof that Boiled Eggs are better than God... Boiled eggs are better than nothing Nothing is better than God .: Boiled eggs are better then God

Right, I'm with you on this, you don't need to preach to the choir or anything. I just agreed because I rather like the humour of this way of thinking. I just picture a guys head exploding as the back and forth causes one of the speakers to just give up on trying to comprehend...

I suppose there is also the rather mechanical way of looking at absolutes and the more human way of looking at them. On one hand, any doubt renders an absolute meaningless, but then again in the real world in which we live there seem to be good "absolutes" to live by that aren't really absolutes at all, but they remain so to us.

That's not what it means.
