That's usually the part where you say, "Oh, I forget, let me check it." Then activate a ringtone while slipping it onto Silent and pretend to take a call and haul ass out of there. ;)

Give them a number with 555 as the middle number. Those are fake. Or give them a random number. Or just say no. If they're creepy then why do you care?

this WOULD suck if it were ever actually a real and necessary situation. under what real circumstances does one never have the option but to give it to them. You could just say no, that's an option. Say that you don't give out your phone number to just anyone and you'd rather keep it to yourself. If they don't understand that, then it's their problem
