The majority of the time , only people who do something stupid on the Internet or don't install antivirus software and a firewall get viruses. There are more viruses designed for PC's than Macs. As long as you don't do something foolish , you won't get a virus. Also , Windows Vista addressed that problem (though that is the ONLY thing Vista didn't fail to do).

This! Thank you so much; I was beginning to think there was no one on this site that had any idea what they were talking about. If Apple didn't have such a tiny share of the market... like 10% last time I checked... there would be more viruses, and they would be just as vulnerable. I will say that the professional musicians/DJs that I know say Macs suit them better than PCs, and I'll concede that point on sheer force of testimony. But for most people, if you have a modicum of common sense and any idea at all what you're doing on a computer, a PC will serve you perfectly at a fraction of the cost of a Mac... and for us gamers, the ability to upgrade our own machines as new and better cpus and graphics cards come out is invaluable. I can build you a PC of comparable or greater power to any Mac for not much more than half the price. Steve Jobs is a giant tool, and most people who buy Macs are just doing it for the name and the hype, and getting ripped off. ...

I built my pc, as well as a few of my friends' and my sister's. They are all awesome machines, built at prices you wouldn't believe. So yeah... I'm a total technophobe *eyeroll* Macs are for trendwhores, elitists with too much money, and morons who don't know what to download/click and what not to download/click. I have zero trouble with viruses, and pretty much everything on my computer is hacked; I don't pay for most software. Also, if you really think there aren't any viruses for Macs, you're an even bigger moron- there's even viruses for the iPhone. There simply aren't as many as for PCs, because people looking to phish information out of people's computers are playing a numbers game- hit as many people as you can.
