+54 it's weird how a lot of people in the United Sates hate thier jobs. nobody forced them into a job they don't like. it is your choice what type of job you want. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Just because they potentially can change jobs doesn't mean they automatically find a wonderful one. It's not that simple.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

You have a good point, but it's not nearly as hard as people make it out to be; they're just too afraid to do it. Finding a better job, or even becoming self-employed, isn't as hard as people think if they're ambitious enough (but of course that's not what your employers want you to think).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why do you just say people in the U.S.? There are people from other countries, too. And sometimes the job someone is looking for isn't hiring, but the person needs an income to survive so they have to take what they can get.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Yeah, it's your choice unless you, you know, need money.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well no, not every job is the one you go to school/college for and dream to be as a little kid. Sometimes you get stuck working at a fast food place or sorting files or unbending paper clips for a few years.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But that's the thing, *no one* forced anybody to work at a fast food restaurant. There are other options, no matter where you live (or, especially if you're willing to move).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The other option: Being broke and unemployed? Sounds like forced to me...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That depends. If people have no ambition to do they want and don't have enough self-confidence to start their own gigs, then yeah, they're forced. I have more faith in most people...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

wow thanks to this post im going to the white house tomorrow and getting that job!@1224614 (duckshirt): cool im gonna go to the white house tomorrow!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's the total opposite of what I am saying. Barack Obama didn't think "Well I can't just go over to the white house tomorrow and be president, I guess I'm stuck with my current job," as you think. He believed in himself more than that... Ever since we passed that 13th amendment thing, no, nobody is forced into sucky jobs.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

self-confidence and ambition will not give you a job that is not hiring and doesn't have money to pay you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

start it yourself then. it's not like a limited number of jobs are just naturally floating around to take.

Some parents force their children into jobs.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

impossible

by Anonymous 12 years ago

A parent can demand that you go into a specific career field, a career field that requires some sort of degree. You say you want to work in a different choice of career, your parents no longer want to pay for your college education. That is a very difficult dilemna to resolve.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Chauncy Pickles): most parents dont pay for college education anyways, and parenting experts say they shouldnt. and if youre parent is such a control freak they refuse to pay for something you have to do but make youre own choice about it, having a job you hate is the least of your problems. anyways, its not forced. no one held a gun up to your head, your not 17- years old, its not forced.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well most college applicants rely on their parents as a source of income. If you refuse to cooperate with your parents, then you lose that relationship and you have to apply for student loans. Considering most incoming freshmen don't know what major they want to study, most banks won't be as willing to offer up a check to some unforseeable future. Plus being on bad terms with your parents can put you out of the house, which adds to what is already becoming an enormous debt. Besides, the average Joe doesn't have parents that care what parenting experts have to say about their parenting styles, especially if those parents are minorities.

(Chauncy Pickles): tl;dr

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ne soyez pas bete, et parlez en anglais! Je ne peux pas comprendre le langue fou!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're what's wrong with our education system!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Chauncy Pickles): youre whats wrong with humanity. first of all, when i tl;dr something, its not because im lazy, its because i dont care enough about the subject at hand to flame war over it. theres even a post that says the same thing. the second thing is, what the fuck gives you the right to insult someone with no former education on me to deduct something like that?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This isn't a flame war; this is a debate on the topic of the comment from which our comments stem. Both sides of this debate have made clear arguments that add evidence to prove their side correct. Also, I think you meant "what the fuck gives you the right to insult someone with no formal education on me to deduce something like that?"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Chauncy Pickles): flame war: back and forth arguing over something that doesnt matter

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It matters to someone. It might matter to the person who started this topic of conversation.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Chauncy Pickles): but not to me, obviously. you insist on getting the last word dont you? you can reply, and ill go ahead and let you have it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I want to know if you have anything to add as a rebuttal to my input.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"if everyone went by this there would be no janitors because no one would want to clean up shit"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're right, because whatever job you really want you can automatically get

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's* weird that the people who rag on the culture of the United States* can't spell or use capital letters in the correct place. I mean, it's not like they used big words or anything.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

so, youre saying i should quit a job at tims (fast food technically) and become a professional poker player at the age of 15! OK!!!
