My high school was like that. In fact, we had to use laptops. We got them freshman year (or whenever you transferred in), and used them in class for notes.

At my friend's school, once you get to high school (it's K-12) you get a mac. They don't have any books.

I would never bring my laptop to school. Plus, it's useless since they don't allow you to use them in class. And it'll get stolen in an instant. My friend brought her new iPhone and by 2nd period it was already stolen.
