+187 A truly merciful and kind God would welcome atheists into Heaven, because they've exercised their "God-given" traits of skepticism and curiosity, amirite?

I have a somewhat odd personal view, because I believe in God and the divinity of Jesus, but I still believe that life develoed through the process of evolution. If you really think about it, neither religion or science can be totally proven or disproven. Since the only thing a person can really know is that they somehow exist, we all have make assumptions about life.

I don't find that odd at all, in fact, that's what most Christians I know believe. And you left out the P in "developed", just fyi.

I'm from from the deep South so I know a lot of redneck Christians. It must be a more common view where you're from.

What about all the other religions? If they don't believe in your god, that means they're going to hell? No religion can be right. There are so many different ones. Also, if God were forgiving, you WOULD be able to say "oh, my bad" (not like that, of course) and go to heaven. Personally, I'm not against God and I'm not trying to disprove his existence, but I don't really believe he exists. Also, to those who believe the story of Adam and Eve: You really, honestly believe that Adam basically appeared out of nowhere and Eve came from his rib? (I'm sorry if I didn't get that completely right, I haven't read the Bible and my dad summed up the story for me.) It sounds like an ancient Greek or Roman myth to me.

Many of the bibles stories are borrowed from greek/roman myths, which in turn are borrowed from Babylon and other cultures around the Mediterranean

I didn't know that, thanks. (: (I don't know if that seems sarcastic, but it's not.)

people need to be more tolerant. why are you arguing about atheism and christianity? let people bellieve whatever they want to believe. they have a right to have their own opinion and they aren't bothering you in any way by doing so.

most christians don't need proof they have faith. some have more faith than others and can believe in stories from the bible like adam and eve without any scientific proof. I personally think that the story of adam and eve is just a metaphor that was created before we knew about the creation of the world scientifically. There's no doubt in my mind the the big bang theory is right and I want to study astronomy in the future. but I still believe in God and consider myself a good christian. And I still believe that everything was created by God. Also I herd somewhere before (I can't remember where) that a lot of scientist and astronomers are christian even though that seems like a contradiction. I don't think there is any thing wrong with being an atheist and I don't think that they won't go to heaven either.
