For all that vote no because they don't like Obama, hold this in regard; This has absolutely nothing to do with his presidency. This has to do with the fact that fox and cnn manipulate stories to better fit their Ideals. I.E. conservative and liberal
you said: "fox manipulates stories to fit their ideals" that is, conservative and liberal...well if you ate saying they're in the middle than congratulations, what's the problem?
I think that they meant that in some situations Fox can be conservative and others liberal. It all depends on what their viewers think. That's how they get viewers, by appealing to both sides. Looks like you don't watch as much news as you say you do.
It can't be liberal, the owner of the station is a hardcore conservative.... It's been on the news, the only thing the reporters on the show say are things that he would support.... So if they said anything somewhat supporting liberal ideals, then they get canned
(Different Anonymous): No, I see what muffinman is saying, and although that IS true, I seldom see it. If Ive earned anything from history class its that political parties tend to sway to and from conservatism. Damn democrats have been liberals and conservative twice each
This isnt entirely true. He didn't say "CNN: President Obama blah blah blah" He said "Regular News: blah blah blah" so yea...this is another slap at Fox claiming they arent a real news station. -.-
I'd disagree. Its kind of inferred though. It not being a real news station is also inferred, as it was never physically written in this post. It is a real news station, though a highly manipulative one.
I suppose it is if telling the truth and actually reporting stories that can jeopardize the reputation of the Obama administration counts as manipulating. Shit, if it is, then I guess CNN and MSNBC must not be manipulative at all. =O
I don't watch either of those two stations. I watch fox news, but when I see anything about politics, I would rather go to blogs, talk radio or government website(though its pretty rare) Personally, I would very much like to read bills being passed before making a blind opinion or assumption
Lol. Honestly, kid, try watching a little Fox News instead of just spewing out all the bullshit CNN tells you. You're head may actually recede from your ass.
TROLL lol. I do watch Fox News its kinda the only channel I get. No where did I say Cnn is better or no manipulative. The closest to non biased would be the BBc. Even at that, it has bias to it
Regular News: President Obama saves Earth from giant meteor.
Fox News: President Obama steals jobs from superheroes.
What Actually Happened: President Obama swats fly during interview.
All news stations manipulate their stories, some biased conservatively and some liberally, which is expected from a corporation that has little incentive to be "unbiased." But what they all have in common is that they all promote fear, you know, so you'll think you need to tune in more and that by watching you're becoming more "informed."
It sounds like you just read the first independent clause of the first sentence of my comment, thinking that was my whole point, rather than just a reiteration of a generally accepted statement to preface my actual point, contained in the dependent clause of the first sentence and the second sentence of my comment.
Umm, your whole point was a pointless.... Polars comment covered it all. EVEN IF other stations use same methods as fox, fox uses it much more often. Independent dependent blah blah, I'm trying to sound smart interdependent comment!
I'm not an Independent. I didn't indicate my political views in any way with that post because, unlike what Polar's comment referred to, I am not referring to biases of different stations but rather the reason TV news sucks in general and would still suck if it were not politically biased. The point was that I actually don't care that TV news is biased towards a party because that's expected, but that I don't watch TV because all of them are biased towards fear, to get more people to watch it. Also, whether FOX is worse than NBC or not is not makes no difference to me because neither are worth watching (I switched to online sources a long time ago), which is another reason Polarthebear's comment was not relevant to my post.
I didn't say you were an Independent... what you said was, they all try to get you to fear them and revere them as high beings (which if it was me, would try to get away from) but the thing is one station, tries to do that MORE than another.... btw it's MSNBC.
And I have no idea what, "not is not makes no difference to me" means. Besides online sources are just as biased as ones on the tv... people do write it after all. In addition to that, fox and msnbc both have their stories online, so it kind of does cover your COMMENT too
No, I meant they are biased to instill general fear ("breaking news"), i.e., make people afraid and feel like they need to tune in more... not fear of the stations themselves. When I say online sources I don't mean online versions of CNN / FOX (those aren't in my RSS feed list, obviously) but sources that are actually relevant to my interests. They don't have this same bias of fear, because news itself is not what generates revenue for them, and the political biases they do have are much more honest because they don't have to pretend like they're 'fair and balanced' sources like the TV stations do. It also allows me to read BBC, which, even though it is affiliated with a TV station, I find a lot more interesting than American stations because it doesn't focus 99% of its attention on America, and it's run by the UK government so I whatever agenda they're biasing towards doesn't matter to me as much.
Well I don't mind reading the BBC articles, but the news programs they have I can't stand. It's like that in any other country, really. Just reading what happened straight... I mean sure it's the truth, but meh. I commend Americans for putting a little bit of personality in their news, it makes it way more interesting. But I guess that's just me
Ah, so nobody likes it when FOX News acts like the left-leaning media?
Im not a fan of Bush, but the hypocrisy and double standards of the left is a turn
off. I'm a former Democrat. Oh, and also a gay, ethnic minority atheist.
Okay, so I don't particuarlly love Obama and I watch fox news almost every day, but that post was funny even though I disagree.. Honestly, I beive that both sides of the media, liberal and conservitive, twist the news into what they want it to be.
Main reason I hate Amirite: It's 100% liberal, and if you even HINT that you aren't, or that you watch Fox News you're evil. Can't we agree to disagree that ALL media is corrupt?
Personally, I enjoy watching Fox News. They aren't afraid to have opinions (because that's what the shows like the O'reilly Factor and Glenn Beck are: opinion). Yes, maybe they lean towards conservative, but calling them manipulative is like saying MSNBC is completely unbiased whatsoever.
Not really. Everything and everyone is biased, there's really no fix for that. Everybody who matters/cares enough to have an opinion on the matter will be at least slightly biased. And being biased isn't the same as manipulative, just FYI. I'd also say that every news station is manipulative a little bit, since they have so much of a voice and so much power. It's nearly impossible to have a news story that isn't favoring one side or the other at least somewhat.
(Different Anonymous): Only instead of doing it when something bad happens, they do it all the time, like if Obama does something good, they find the quirks, when Bush did something bad, they try to look at the bright side
I'd say about half of the people who watch it trust it. I watch it sometimes for the weather or something but I would never watch it for the political news.
I actually agree... At least there they make fun of their bias and manipulation, instead of trying to shove it down our throats as fact. Although apparently a lot of conservatives who watch the Colbert Report don't know that he's mocking them, and they think he's actually being political. Wow.
haha, yes, i know! my grandma is an ultra conservative who LOVES the colbert report, and was shocked to find out that i love it too (for different reasons though... i'm a democrat, haha)
You basically did say that. Somebody said that just because they have a lot of viewers doesn't mean it's trusted, and your reply to that was that it doesn't mean that it's not trusted. And I'm sorry, I didn't understand that you were just quoting their motto. I thought you were just putting that out there as fact. Although, if you do accept their motto to be fact, then my argument still stands.
(Different Anonymous): nope, im serious. well anyways fuck you anons, at least I can fucking say what I want with a picture and a profile, something you don't have the balls to do.
Scientific American: Could the meteor actually have been beneficial to our biosphere? Scientists say meteor might have halted global warming. See full story on pg.42
@457871 (Originality_is_Dead): We should. That is hilarious
Yes. Yes you can.
I think that would be highly beneficial to all.
For all that vote no because they don't like Obama, hold this in regard; This has absolutely nothing to do with his presidency. This has to do with the fact that fox and cnn manipulate stories to better fit their Ideals. I.E. conservative and liberal
I love how no one has rushed to cnn's rescue LOL
you can't be both conservative and liberal dumbass...
No shit sherlock. But there is a down the middle. No one seems to able to find it
a moderate?
There's the word I was looking for
you said: "fox manipulates stories to fit their ideals" that is, conservative and liberal...well if you ate saying they're in the middle than congratulations, what's the problem?
They aren't down the middle . No one news station is
I think that they meant that in some situations Fox can be conservative and others liberal. It all depends on what their viewers think. That's how they get viewers, by appealing to both sides. Looks like you don't watch as much news as you say you do.

there's more to why fox is considered manipulative.
but yes, MSNBC is like the antichrist of fox.
And CNN is his father Satin
And who exactly is this Satin you speak of? Is he trying to take over the world from Patent leather's control?
keith olbermann is lucifer, bill o'reily is jesus.
idk if i'd agree with that. O'Reily is slippin.
maybe glenn beck, then. or sarah palin.
I don't watch either of those two stations. I watch fox news, but when I see anything about politics, I would rather go to blogs, talk radio or government website(though its pretty rare) Personally, I would very much like to read bills being passed before making a blind opinion or assumption
hahha....soooo true:)

*not
@457860 (Anonymous): Dude, I said Cnn was manipulative, also.
that was the problem! Did you edit your post and put CNN in it?
Three minute editing time genius. It was in ther, people just refused to acknowledge it. AND I wa so focused on waring of trolls I forgot what I wrote
no need to be an asshole...I could've read it the first time before you edited it.
Regular News: President Obama saves Earth from giant meteor.
Fox News: President Obama steals jobs from superheroes.
What Actually Happened: President Obama swats fly during interview.
You are my new best friend....
You mean Faux News?
our founding fathers did say in the beginning of this country that two parties would estroy our country..
I logged out to give you another 'thumbs up'. This sir, is win.
Amirite is currently down due to excessive amounts of win. Please try again later.

Instant favorite
Mine too.

@965284 (anonymous): They're doritos.
I'm eating Zubat.

You're also trying too hard.
Hear, hear. That guy is batshit crazy.
U Jus Jelly
Shiiit. Someone beat me. I'm not funny.

Hey duck shit, I think the polar bear covered this, like TWO fucking posts above yours....
It sounds like you just read the first independent clause of the first sentence of my comment, thinking that was my whole point, rather than just a reiteration of a generally accepted statement to preface my actual point, contained in the dependent clause of the first sentence and the second sentence of my comment.
Nice use of your knowledge of grammar to take him apart in an argument

Because all the other news channels are soooo unbiased. -end sarcasm-
Here we go with the Obama debate... -_-;
It's clearly not an Obama debate, but a debate over the views of different news channels.
Yeah, it even says clearly, not a debate about Obama, but how news stations manipulate the stories....
Brilliant
The ad on this page said "Repeal Obama". Lol'd
destroy* sorry
Fox News is what you watch when you are in the mood to laugh. When you want to real news you watch Jon Stewart.
Ah, so nobody likes it when FOX News acts like the left-leaning media?
Im not a fan of Bush, but the hypocrisy and double standards of the left is a turn

(EduardVonBock) liberals love everything (except babies)! We are the nicest people in the world
haahahahah. i love this.
And what exactly is "Regular News"? Also, why didn't you put the liberal side on your post?
The regular news is the right news is the liberal news
Haha. This is great.
haha, soo true!
The way they praise Obama, I'm surprised no one's reported that, yet.
I am glad to be your internet friend Breakfastfan.
I'm not poor.....so fox news wins.
FUCK YEAH LIBERALS.
... (:
why are liberals so obnoxious?
(slaves built shit): lol, beats the hell out of me... :)

Fox is kind of like when planet BP made an article telling about the benefits of the oil spill....
(Different Anonymous): Only instead of doing it when something bad happens, they do it all the time, like if Obama does something good, they find the quirks, when Bush did something bad, they try to look at the bright side
(Different Anonymous): Oh my God, did BP really have the nerve to do that?
"Fair and balanced" my ass.
MSNBC: Obama saves the entire world, as usual.
Good thing liberals are too moral to ever twist a story!!!111
sure feels great to be moral
BreakfastFan News: "Obama is my boycrush, but only because he's black and I'm a Black Supremist."
facepalm How is ANYONE a Black Supremist?
*Supremacist
Fox is the most trusted name in news.
Do you only have one channel on you TV? Is it Fox? Cause if not then I don't know what the hell you are talking about.
I have more than one channel. Fox has more viewers than NBC and CNN combined.
That doesn't mean it's trusted.
That doesn't mean it's not trusted, either.
I'd say about half of the people who watch it trust it. I watch it sometimes for the weather or something but I would never watch it for the political news.
That's not proving your point at all... just because it's not "not trusted" means that it's "the most trusted name in news"?
honestly, i trust comedy central to deliver the straight up news more than any actual news station.

As do I. Daily Show and Colbert Report for the win.
I never said that. And I could say the same for your argument. Their motto is "the most trusted name in news."
You basically did say that. Somebody said that just because they have a lot of viewers doesn't mean it's trusted, and your reply to that was that it doesn't mean that it's not trusted. And I'm sorry, I didn't understand that you were just quoting their motto. I thought you were just putting that out there as fact. agreed. 25 notifications later...
I dont know which is more of a joke-this post, or the fact that you think Obama can help America.
CALL IN THE DANCING LOBSTERS!
oh. haha, my bad. i completely didn't see that. sorry dude
good call, I don't want to start a crazy internet argument, just state my points, and I'm out
Here's the joke: Pretty much all of the opinions you hold.
I so agree, anyone who isn't a democrat is so obviously retarded!11!11
zomg i totalyz agree wit u!! <3
You're a joke
@458882 (Different Anonymous): Fox news is a joke.
(Different Anonymous): nope, im serious. well anyways fuck you anons, at least I can fucking say what I want with a picture and a profile, something you don't have the balls to do.
Mmm you're a hot joke, how old are you? Where do you live? And number plz! :D
This made me lol. xD
