At least not in public. :3

Good friends can discuss those maturely without fighting and can respect each others opinions

Agreed. I have very different political and religious views from my best friend, and yet we are able to have mature and insightful discussions on these topics.

Good friends do discuss these things because they know that they'll still be friends even if they disagree.

I disagree. My entire table at my old school discussed politics all through out lunch almost everyday. Sports teams are a different story. We'd get mad and stop talking until they played to see who's right

Discussing is okay...debating only leads to hard feelings.

At first i voted yes, but i changed to no after i thought about it for a few reason. If they agree on politics, then of course they should talk! It would make them better friends! Also, i agree that 'some' people can have mature discussions. However, this post would have been much funnier and more people would agree with it if you would have added "when they're drunk" at the end of the post.

Everything is funnier if you add "when they're drunk" to it

I guess I should have put debate.

I think that friends are the only people with whom it is appropriate to discus politics and religion. I don't walk up to a random person on the street and say, "Hey, I support abortion, gay rights, and the death penalty. I also don't believe in God. Let's discuss..."

I think as long as you don't disrespect each other's views and opinions, you should talk about those kinds of things all the time.

My friends and I understand and respect on another, enough to discuss our different belefs with open minds. We actually talk about religion and politics to learn from one another, and hear what the other has to say.

I'm a Christian, and my best friend is I guess agnostic although he doesn't label himself that way, yet he really likes discussing religion as well as scientific explanations for how things came to be or certain biblical stories.

My best friend and I have completely opposite political views therefore we never talk about politics.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What the hell else are you supposed to talk to good friends about. Other people and clothing? That's pretty fuckin shallow. Debating strengthens a relationship and if your friendship can't make it through that then it's not a frienship worth having.

I like to discuss or debate both, my best friend is catholic, I'm athiest. Politics is more dull...we agree too much

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I debate this stuff with my friend all the time due to the fact most other times without these conversations we get bored.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you agree on those topics, there is no point in discussing them. When you disagree, it makes for much more interesting conversation. Among friends, there are no forbidden topics!
