isnt that suffocating??? because they get the oxygen from the water to breath and they dont have that out of the water...

It's not drowning. Fish die out of water because their gills get sticky and they can't breathe.

I'm confused. So fish take oxygen from the water, but then when they're taken out of the water, into pure oxygen, they can't breathe at all? Can someone explain, please?

(My name): Gills are tiny folds that must remain seperate for water to flow through so that the oxygen in the water can be extracted. If they're taken out of water their gills clump, preventing the diffusion of oxygen into their bodies.
