+535 It's really messed up, that it took an earthquake that killed millions of people to get people to donate money, and help them, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

good they should learn to help themselves in stead of relying on america or the UN to take care of them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well when your goverment is that screwed up, who else can you rely on?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the people can rely on themselves.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

themselves and what supplies? No water, food, family. You'll die. And so will your family. They need the help. And I'm glad that people unlike you, were able to see that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you're right. america should just be one big fat charity. because, you know, we dont have any problems of our own and all of our people are prosperous and happy. i mean its not like we have millions of illegal aliens in our country taking jobs and tax mone from americans. we have no problems of our own whatsoever.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not just talking about the US. I'm talking about all the other countries who realize that other countries have it worse than them. In third world countries people take jobs by killing, not illegal immigration. They just need to be grateful for what they have. Everyplace will have problems but they can be dealt with later, and people arn't gonna die because of where their tax money is going.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's not true, churches and people go on mission trips and help and stuff, my church went to Haiti and even though it was after the earthquake, we planned it way before the earthquake.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Op, how much money did you donate before the earthquake?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think its messed up that the us is in major debt, soooo many people have lost their jobs and homes and can't feed their family, yet the us can donate that much money? You know damn well if it was the other way around we would NEVER get that kinda help from other countries. Help your own people. Damn.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And there's millions of people here living below the poverty line starving to death with not even a pair of shoes on their feet. Seriously, fix shit here. Worry about other places later. Simple.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

here as in where?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Christchurch had a 7.1 on the richter scale last saturday - no one died, so it wasn't big news over the world - but the entire city is DESTROYED. NZ's government can cope, but only JUST, and NZ is as developed as America. They're had over 200 afterschocks around 5.0, so nothing can be fixed until the earth settles. Being a 3rd world country, the infrastructure would have been much less stable, theres no way any country like that would be able to cope by itself. It's in there time of need, so it's in the media, so THAT is the reason people donated. Its not messed up, its normal.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@552966 (Anonymous): Thanks for someone actually bringing this to peoples attention. The aftershocks keep coming still and it's been a week.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So what's gonna happen when there's a natural disaster in america? We're in debt. We'll be fucked. And all these places we've helped in the past? No way in hell will they help us.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yellowstone D:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@553188: as in the us, that is in major debt and keeps giving them money. Duh.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sooooo how bout the oil spill in the gulf? Do you see any of these people america has given billions to helping us? No. FUCKTHEM. Dumbasses.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(lynn.): the oil spill was preventable.. and it wasn't a natural disaster.. and the damage that occured wasn't life threatning (excluding animals D:)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@553602: it doesn't matter that it wasn't a natural disaster. It happened. Thousands of people have been horribly effected by it. It IS life threatening to people not just animals. People DID die because of it. Now, are all these people getting donated money from other countries? No. They're going through bullshit hell with court systems that don't want to give out any money.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah that sucks but is it as bad as thousands dying, losing their homes, their family in a country that we all know cannot support for themselves? The people that did get affected by the spill can survive and they will unlike most of the others who have no chance but charities.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The earthquake didn't kill millions of people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

These third world countries need to stop breeding..fucking dumb asses, why have children if you cannot support them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You post this like raising money would have prevented the earthquake...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its not that messed up...why would we donate to random poor countries around the world when we're not the richest people either?..besides, there are TONS of charities in america for all kinds of causes. you just dont really hear about them until something tragic (like an earthquake) happens.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't get why people are so concerned with what's going on in these 3rd world contries but don't even take a peak at what's going on in their own backyard. As in the fact that the us is in a depression that's is devastatingly effecting MILLIONS.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I live in california. Last night there was a gas line break/explosion in san bruno. Its absolutely devastating. But guess what? Its not the first and won't be the last time something like that happens. So how about the billions donated to who the fuck knows where be donated to gas and electric companys and construction companys that need it to go update all that shit? What do you expect from lines that are 50+ years old? Its a damn tragedy. Stop worrying about everyone else and fix shit where you live. And by you I mean the united states that's donated billions all over to world but won't do shit for themselves.
