Wearing braces is much worse than wearing glasses, amirite?

That is true. But you only have the metal on your teeth for what, a year? Maybe more, having a retainer? But with glasses, your eyesight slowly gets worse, and there's no going back. You're stuck with them forever.

Forever? There's such thing as Lasik, which can be around $490 per eye, where braces can be around $5000. So personally I'd rather have glasses.

I have both. Eww. I got contacts but it's still a hassle. Thing is, braces are more expensive and actually hurt. I almost had to quit playing the flute because of them and every time I play my flute it really hurts. The orthodontist said that it's 'normal'

Plus wearing glasses can give you a headache too :/ Which sucks long term. I know braces can hurt too (I have both) but as lots of people have already said, it's for a much shorter time.

Honestly, I wouldn't know because I don't have braces, but my dentist said that I might need them at one point.

just from experience, get them when you're are younger. don't wait. I got mine on at 15 and it's terrible. especially since most of my friends are getting them off around now..

Same here. Everybody always says "OMG DON'T BE EXCITED. THEY SUCK SOOOOOOOOOOO BAD" I'm like ":) Oh well. I still can't wait" I'm getting mine in a few months woohoo!

At least braces are removed after a while. And unless you get LASIK, you're pretty much stuck with glasses/contacts for the rest of your life. I'd know. I had braces and currently wear contacts. Ha.

kids need to stop bitching about braces their parent pay ALOT of money for their sake, so that they dont have to got through life with bad teeth!!! I think its a great opportunity to make yourself look better in the long term so dont whin, wear them proudly!!!! and glasses are not that bad they can be really cool and compement your face and style if you truly hate glasses get laser surgury sorry for the mispellings :P

um god no! glasses are forever, braces are for a few years AND your teeth turn out perfect afterwards.... i have braces and id pick them over glasses ( which I'm getting too) any day

Having had glassed for over 10 years now and being a teen (my eyesight is so bad, I had to bring my prescription to my friend because she didn't believe it could be that bad) who had braces for 2 years, glasses are MUCH worse. Yes, my braces cost a few thousand, but I'll have to keep getting new glasses/contacts (not always new frames, but who wants the same frames their ENTIRE lives??) until my eyes stop getting worse and I can get surgery to fix my eyesight. Plus, you can go swimming and be able to find your way around with braces, not with glasses.
