+667 "I like school, except for the learning. That's gotta go." Seriously? What's wrong with gaining knowledge to help you succeed in life? Homework and terrible teachers do suck, but its all worth it in the end, amirite?

Time test. Countdown to next POTD. Will it be good?

Isn't that the whole POINT of school...to learn? It's just recess without the learning.

We mean SCHOOL IS NOT FUCKING FUN.

Ok I have to say I agree with this post, but now a day the school system (in america) sucks. Teacher give homework for the hell of it. Every once in a while there will be classes with teachers who regularly assign homework, but it isn't pointess. Then there are also teacher who give crappy assignments that waste time to "get to know each other" or its a gay project like "make a model of...." the models do shit. I'm not learning anything more from spending an hour making a model than if i just drew it in 5 minutes. And then there are pointless classes. Honestly i dont see the point to learning all the details in history or being able to analyze and find archetypes in literature. School os suppose to prepare us for our future, i am 99.99% sure my future job will not have me analyzing literature and picking out archetypes and symbolism. So in short, most time we spend in school pointless.

I do agree with you on that, but if you don't try to learn and do your own research on stuff, then you won't succeed.

I already know that you have to do research in school. I do at my school. I'm at the top of my class, rank1 or 2, but the assignments they give are ridiculous. I fell like I am forced to them because i know otherwise it will be way harder to get into a good college and an awesome job. But honestly, i really do not see the point to certain material that we are forced to "learn" (aka memorize pointless facts and repeat them on exams)

The point is to accelerate the learning process of your brain, find different techniques in which you learn differently, have our rankings at the top so we can seem as the "good" country with better education, so on and so on. We couldn't learn about the ways of life, how to deal with bullies, stuff what we really need to know about etc., etc., because first of all, people process that differently. If we rely on facts told in school about that then our brains would not be very advanced because we are reliant on once source. Besides, I am sure we would miss out on some great jobs that may interest us through fun subjects (subjects that we like in particular).
