+153 In America, political parties go in and out of fashion. For example, right now, you're pitiful when you're a Republican. Amirite?

Nah, it's just a matter of who you talk to... when you were younger Republicans seemed more popular, because your parents (who are older) would be more conservative. As you get older, you meet a lot of different people (especially in college) who are really liberal and hate republicans, because for the most part, when you're starting out in your early 20s you're going to be dirt poor and you support democrats who care about the working class of America. As you get older and richer, you start to forget about your struggles and decide that your money is yours and you don't want it taken so you start supporting republicans who will help you do that. That's my summary of a persons view on politics. Take it with a grain of salt

I think the tea party, Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, the whole anti-gay platforms a lot of them have been following, etc, have caused this conception. It could very well be a small group of the party that spoils its whole image.

Given that the GOP gained seats in the House and Senate in the 2010 elections and Obama's job approval isn't great right now, I was confused by this until I saw the date it was posted. Speaking of which, whose idea was it to homepage a post about a very specific moment in time from nearly a year ago? How are we supposed to vote on this? Are we supposed to think back to August 2010 and try to remember if Republicans were pitiful then, or do we apply it to the current political situation and vote on the post in a different way than it was originally intended?
