I know :)

They do in Australia! I can imagine how annoying it would be if they didn't...

Come to America and get the full experience, then.

They do in the UK and Ireland too. It's so frustrating going over to America and having to add it on yourself

I am fortunate to live in a state with no tax on clothing and shoes.
And it just so happens to have some of the biggest malls in the country.
YAY PENNSYLVANIA!

I think it would be bad for sales

How so?

around here
tax is around 6%
6 cents per dollar can add up to some funky looking prices
I thought of it as a mental thing again
I also read about another reason
tax changes a lot
so having to manually change the price tags would be a hassle
if it's kept separate
the hassle is almost eliminated

I think in the event that taxes were included on the price tag, marketers would be quick to adjust their pricing to maintain regular sales.
I also think it could be an effective marketing strategy. "The tag price is what you pay! No need to add up how many taxes will be on your order!"
by Anonymous10 years ago
that's true
I guess I personally just would prefer they stay separate
I like knowing the price of the item
and then the sales tax
I'm sure they could include that on the tag too
maybe
or that could be a bad idea

In China, how much you see on the price tag is how much you pay at the cashier, maybe U.S. should do that as well.
