If you're anti-social, you shun contact with others. You can't simultaneously enjoy a party and be anti-social.

I don't really like parties. Especially ones thrown for me. It feels awkward and I don't like all the attention.

I am a bit of a loner and anti-social mostly because of the people who were cruel to me my whole life. I went to one party where one of my "friends" was shocked to see me there because she thought "I wouldn't like parties". I like hanging out with my "friends" but they see me as a loner because I'm never at parties...because I never know about them till after.

I like to be around people, but I don't like talking to them. I like to watch people mingle as I'm being ignored. Strange, but true. :/ I think this is what OP means.
