Many hamsters live happily in a large cage. IDK about hamsters, but I used to have heaps of pet mice, and I'd regularly make them large play areas to go into when I was watching them.

That would be true for birds, not small helpless animals.

Lol A day.... I admire your....generosity. If my sister ever lets her hamster out of it's cage, He'll be lucky if the cat lets him take a breath.
