+109 Airlines should install a couple of extra-large seats for the extra-large people that usually can't fit into one seat and they can't afford to pay for first-class on airplanes, amirite?

Only if they're not extra-large because they are fat.

And the cost of doing that would end up making the new seats even more expensive than making them pay for 2 or upgrading them to first class. to change every plane in every airline would be crazy expensive.

Plus, it would be kind of embaressing for the person needing the seat...

no extra-large people that are voluntarily that way (and not for a medical reason) should have to pay extra. If they are not willing to slim down for their own benefit (of being healthy and saving money on things like this) why should everything change for them?

They do pay extra-or at least, they should be. If someone is so large that they can't fit into a single seat, they're required to purchase another seat because nobody else can sit in the seat next to them. Of course, there are always the people in denial who refuse to do so and force someone to share half their seat with them.

The idea is good in theory, but it may not actually work .___.

That would make the flight more expensive for everyone else, and less people would be able to fit on the plane. Also, that could start fights, and embarrass people like someone previously stated. If you don't want to buy an extra seat just a) postpone the trip until weight is lost to avoid paying for the extra seat or b) drive to all places that can be reached that way.
