+72 Now that Obama has removed our troops from Iraq, it's going to end up just like Vietnam: the people we were fighting are going to come back in force and make things worse than they were before, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Don't you mean the First Gulf War a.k.a. Desert Storm? Yeah... this wasn't the first time we were in Iraq...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually during the first gulf war we wanted to keep hussein in power..... proven fact, top military adivsors suggested just invading iraq after he invaded kuwait. brass wouldn't let them because they feared a weakened iraq would leave saudi vulnerable to iran

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We aren't fully removed. We have to keep some people stationed over there for exactly this reason.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nope. In Vietnam, as soon as the U.S. forces left, the North Vietnamese overwhelmed the south almost instantly. I think that's what is going to happen here

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Vietnam and Iraq are completely different. Vietnam and Afganistan are similar enough that this could be true. And it wasn't just Obama who removed our troops, the timetable was set before he took office.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

At least someone knows what they're talking about.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Completely agree.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Made your bed, now, unfortunately, sleep in it. No offense.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Dead people can't fight.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Who is dead? Al Qaeda? Al Qaeda isn't dead.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The people that die as collateral damage, however, are.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, but what is your point?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You are aware that the people who have gotten the short end of the stick were the Iraqis, right? If anything, they have the right to revenge kick some ass(to prevent a flame war: against who they want to cast revenge on is up to whatever opinion you have about the war). But they're kind of dead, homeless and impoverished now, so OP doesn't have to worry about that.

And you realize the point of the US's involvement in Iraq was to prevent bad people from taking over and torturing them like had been done previously. Also, you don't have to get all defensive because I was simply trying to figure out what you meant. Chill out.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

...Seriously. Seriously? Seriously...Ah goddamnit, I'm not in the mood for this. Sure. Americans went there to prevent bad things.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I am sensing some negativity here. If you aren't willing to support your argument, then don't bother stating it in the first place. American troops were sent there to prevent the Taliban from terrorizing the civilians and taking over. Most civilians actually like the US's involvment because they are helping them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*sigh*, except for the fact that the civil conflict didn't really get out of proportion until a few years after the US' invasion...But seriously. I am tired of that argument so let's call it a day.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're only tired of the argument because you can't back your shit up. But anyway, have a lovely day

by Anonymous 12 years ago

These "armed conflicts" are complete bullshit. The US is the biggest terrorist state in the world.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

yeah, because we totally crashed planes into our own buildings, right?

USA USA USA
