When you're trying to lose weight you put water in your cereal instead of milk. amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
that sounds nasty as fuck. why don't you just eat less of both?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Or just eat the cereal plain...

You realize that whether or not you're on a diet, milk is probably the best way to get your dairy, right?
by Anonymous12 years ago
If you're that worried about the milk, why don't you just use skimmed?

If you're on a diet, you probably shouldn't be eating cereal unless it's Oatmeal or something like that.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Why? Oatmeal has more calories than cereal.
by Anonymous12 years ago
That depends on how much is eaten from both. It's easier to eat a lot more sugary cereal than oatmeal. And oatmeal is actually healthy.
by Anonymous12 years ago
How is it easier? Oatmeal is more calorie dense (so more calories per spoonful). A bowl of oatmeal has way more calories than a bowl of cereal. And explain how oatmeal is any healthier.

Because regular cereal is basically sugar with supplemented nutrients that your body can't absorb very well. Oatmeal still has the healthy part of the grain, and you get vitamin B, selenium and fiber

Most cereal is whole grain these days, and oatmeal has added sugar too.

You can buy plain oatmeal pretty easily, even instant oatmeal without sugar. "Whole grain" advertising doesn't guarantee it's actually whole grain. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of cereals are refined flour.

Well you can buy plain cereal too (Cheerios, bran flakes, both of which are 100% whole grain). Also, oatmeal is eaten with milk and/or cream too sometimes. So this post could apply to oatmeal too. And this still doesn't address the issue that oatmeal has more calories than cereal, which is by far the most important thing to consider when you're trying to lose weight.

Oh, I never add milk to my oatmeal, so I forgot that other people do. Yes, it has more calories but typically when eating oatmeal people eat a lot less than when they eat regular sugary cereal.
