People who say breaking up in a text message is the worst break up technique is WAY wrong. The real worst break up technique is getting someone ELSE to break up with the person for you. amirite?

Either method just demonstrates immaturity. If you're incapable of breaking up with someone face to face, you probably shouldn't be in a relationship haha.

Oh well, too late to edit now. I guess the haha was just me thinking about all the experiences I had in middle school.

middle school "relationships" (and i use that term loosely) are a freaking joke. people who try to date in middle school are stupid and try to grow up too quickly

True, but on the other hand, a lot of kids are learning how to interact with the opposite sex for the first time (oh, puberty...)
Although the relationships are pointless, trial and error is just another form of learning.

My friend's brother has been dating the same girl since middle school, and they're 32 now. While middle school relationships often aren't hugely important, sometimes they actually last more than a week. I "dated" a guy in middle school for 8 months, and now we're good friends.

mkay well then wait till your a grown up and mature and see how quikly you fail at something you never had experiacne with. they are not "pointless". you suck at everything the first couple times you try it out.

not really. id rather be broken up with over text or phone call than in person. i mean what are you suppost to do? call them and tell them to come over and just break up with them and have them feel all akward and want to cry in front of you then make them go home?

@dicky not really. id rather be broken up with over text or phone call than in person. i mean what are you suppost to do?...

I've never actually heard someone say that they'd rather be broken up with over text or a phone call, ever.
I'd rather have someone come tell me to my face so we could talk. Hiding behind a screen is a spineless thing to do, and it just shows, in my opinion, a lack of respect for someone else.
Breakups are always awkward. You have to do and say things that make you and the other person uncomfortable.
But if you and your partner had any kind of relationship, you'd care about them enough to give them a real reason, and you'd have the decency to say it to their face like an adult.

you just did. i personally would rather not have to deal with the akwardness of being face to face and bursting into tears and spewing out things i cant take back rather than being able to look at what im saying and think about it. and i dont think its spineless and shows lack of respect. lack of respect to me would be staying in a shitty relationship because youre too pussy to end it. but whatever your allowed to have your opinion just dont try to change mine

That's fine if you like to deal with problems that way; we all have our own methods and preferences. I definitely like to mull things over before I make decisions, but when it comes down to doing it, I'd rather be in person. Even if I do say something stupid, or cry.

Trust me, I have better things to do than attempt to change your opinion. Everyone likes to do things differently and I appreciate that.

When I said "you" in my previous comment, I meant the general you, not YOU.

good im glad youre not an asshole who doesnt appreciate people differences. but yeah haha i just think it would be weird unless it was a place they were at already like school or something, calling them to come over or going over to their house just to leave again just seems so akward to me, id rather make it as unpleasant as possible. Plus my opinion is kind of swayed cuz i just broke up with this psycho dude whos really buff and like held onto me and wouldnt let me leave.

Haha yeah, I can't stand people who won't accept anyone who has a different opinion than theirs!

That's really awful :( I'm sorry to hear that. It's good you broke up with him before it got any worse. So many women are afraid to leave asshole guys, so good for you. That takes a lot of courage.
It makes sense that you'd rather do it over text then, if your boyfriend was trying to make you stay physically.

I believe the worst way to break up with someone is the following:

Buy a bow and arrow with both yours and your significant other's initials on them. Take archery lessons with the person for a month, growing a strong bond. Tell the person to meet you in a specific restaurant at a specific table. Hide in a plant of that restaurant. When s/he gets there, shoot an engraved arrow directly to the left of his/her head with a note attached that says you've been cheating on him/her for a year and that you want to break up with him/her because you never actually had feelings for him/her. Also, tell the person that the initials actually stood for the person you were cheating on them with. But say that s/he could have it worse. The arrow could actually have hit him/her in the head and killed him/her.

Unless the arrow actually does kill him/her. Then you're screwed.

What about getting someone else to break up with the person via text message?

The worst way to end a relationship is to just avoid the other person until they get the hint. That's bloody cowardly.

I have to disagree... my friend's girlfriend broke up with him by having her friend post it on his facebook wall for all to see. I think that is that worst way.

No the worst way is when they have someone else, who you hate, do it in a really mean way over a text.

No the worst way is when they just don't break up with you and just stop talking to you. Like wtf.

I think that there are tons of bad ways that are all shitty for their own reasons. Do it in person, or grow up and quit being a coward.
