Canadians know more of American geography and history than Americans know of Canadian, amirite?
by Anonymous14 years ago
What's a Canadian? Is it some sort of disease?
by Anonymous14 years ago
This is true of a lot of places.
Australian school kids know more US Presidents than they do Australian Prime Ministers. And it's not because they were taught them in school or anything, it's because of The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, etc. - seriously, I hear kids talking about brands that we don't have in Australia, or stores that aren't here, etc.

Canadian history is simple.
One day the Canadians sent someone to Britian and he asked "Hey, can we be our own country, eh?" and Britian laughed so hard they said "What the hell, why not?"
As for geography, it's cold.

We dont say eh
by Anonymous14 years ago
I say "eh."
by Anonymous14 years ago
no one i know says eh
by Anonymous14 years ago
I say "eh." Pretty much everyone I know does. It's not as over said or stupid as people make it seem, but it's a lot like "er" or "uhm."

Geography doesn't mean climate.
by Anonymous14 years ago
So mountains don't affect climate at all? So Mexico is dry for no reason?

Canadians know more about america than Americans to begin with...
by Anonymous14 years ago
Im American but come on let's be realistic, every country does
by Anonymous14 years ago
we don't really learn about canadian history in school...do you expect us to know everything about every country?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Yeah, I think that's the main issue - that every country gets taught it's own history, and maybe some other civilisations in college (I'm learning about European civilisation) but many countries known about US history, because US dominates the media - they produce most of the popular movies, TV shows, music, etc., and when you've got the main entertainment markets, you've got most of the Western world.
by Anonymous14 years ago
yeah, and then everyone thinks we're stupid. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of stupid americans. But for the majority we aren't all beer swilling racist rednecks or greedy rich hollywood types. It all depends on the person :) I for one study other cultures myself because I never learned about it too much in school.
by Anonymous14 years ago
There are also a lot of stupid Canadians. I know people (I'm Canadian) who can't even name our provinces and territories, we only have 13. Every country has their own group of stupid people, America is just known for it.

Canada is a large piece of land that is always frozen and covered in snow. Large giants who own huge blue oxen live there and cut down trees to use for maple syrup. The giants also enjoy hockey and curling. That's all you need to know about Canada.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Also, lots of movies are filmed there because it's cheaper. And as an added bonus (or detractor, give or take) it is the birthplace of Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Shania Twain, Ryan Reynolds, and many more.

I thought Paul Buyon lived in Minnesota ...
by Anonymous14 years ago
He moved there from canada. He's an illegal immigrant.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Makes sense now. If I was from Canada, I would want to move, too.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Yeah, they have nickleback. Poor Canada.
by Anonymous14 years ago
America has Miley...
by Anonymous14 years ago
And Rebecca Black.

People in America don't know as much about Canada because it is in the news more. People in China know less about Japanese rulers than vice versa because China is in the news more.
Also it seems that it would be difficult to hear about any news in an igloo while riding a polar bear in an avalanche.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Well duh. No offense guys, but Canada really isn't that important to world history.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Mostly because we're not arrogant and start wars with countries for no reason.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I think it'd be nice if the US did learn a little about Canada, after all we are their largest trading partner.
by Anonymous14 years ago
@1284221 (Chase): I always find it funny when people think Toronto is a province.
by Anonymous14 years ago
i know just as much history of china, japan, russia, africa, and australia as i do america. All i know about canada is that the people are obsessed with someone named "eh"

by Anonymous14 years ago
Due to our education system Canadians know more about US geography than Americans know about (US geography)
