Not intimidating, just kind of secluded. It's mostly used by mods and more well known users, so I can see why most people (including me) don't feel welcome there.

Most of the users there aren't that well known outside of chat. In any case, if it was only used by well known users, wouldn't that apply to you more than most other users?

When I first joined this site, I felt accepted into chat after about 3 days. The people are generally nice.

I was (and kind of still am) terrified of some users in there because I've heard stories from other users. But generally the people are nice, just try saying "hey"

If there's a lot of people in a chat group I tend to read what everyone else is saying and forget to respond. So there's no point for me to go to the amirite chat.

I used to go on there, but every time they'd go through my profile and question me on absolutely everything. Then they'd start saying things like "I've been on amirite longer than you" and "what is even new zealand anyway, never heard of it in my life, you're obviously making up where you're from" etc. And then at the end of it they'd be like "well it was nice making fun of Kaitlyn" and they'd start again on the next person to come along.

I remember saying, "oh look, [...] person came back, awesome" and they all were like, "ew, you like her so that makes you fucking lame." Basically, if you don't say the right thing, they're like "what the fuck".

If you're gonna be accepted in chat, you gotta learn to take a joke. Most insults there are said in a sarcastic way, and are almost never serious. Once you get to know people there, it's a lot better.

Well I haven't been on chat it was when I first joined amirite and there would only be about 5 people on chat at any one time. They weren't kidding, they just weren't very nice people. I don't really care about going on something if everyone's going to be rude.
