+620 The fact that the area outside of our solar system goes on for infinity is so hard to grasp since everything in our lives has some kind of ending, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

thats exacly why the universe has an end

by Anonymous 13 years ago

but it's not the type of ending we know.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yes it is the universe gos a far as we can see when we cant see any more there is no light therefore doesnt exist they grow at on light day per day there may be millions of them

So, what happens when we got to the end? We just hit a wall and go 'well how'd that wall get here'? No, there is no end, theres just nothing there. They also say there are multiple universes. Think about that.

The universe is not infinite but it is expanding. Most scientists believe in the big bang which proves the universe had a beginning. It is possible for us to get to the end because the universe expands at a rate faster then the speed of light. According to Einstein if matter were to travel faster then the speed of light we would turn into energy. Furthermore, there is a finite number of energy and matter in the universe and since it had a beginning it is logically impossible for the universe to be infinite.

Except there is an ending...

It might just be a giant sphere...makes more sense.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah but where would the sphere be? it cant *just* be a sphere

Think about a circle. It has no ending nor does it have a beginning. That's a good start to thinking about something that goes on forever. But I do agree. Its a very hard concept to grasp and a scary one at that.
