why do black girls wear weaves? Be yourself, be natural. amirite?

Yeah... you could just as easily ask why do any girls dye their hair? Get perms? Get straightened? Wear makeup? Paint their nails? It's all artificial enhancement... none is more deceptive any other. And btw... those extensions that you can buy @ Sally and BeautyCo? White girl "weave" pretty much... just not as well done. No, I'm not black.

It's not only black girls. White girls get extensions, tracks, etc. I for one get perms because my natural hair just doesn't look nice to me. I do what I do to my hair so I can feel nice about myself and so I'm not constantly checking to make sure my hair is still down or looking decent.

Ohh, I dunno, maybe because having to tame nautral hair everyday is incredibly time comsuming and some people just like the look of sleek hair? Why do girls paint their nails or put on makeup? Sorry, the entire world can't be 100% non superficial. Ooh, burn. Oh, and I'm obviously not black but my school is 90% black so I know what I'm talking about.

you can't just "be natural" with black hair. it takes a lot of work just to keep it in a pony tail sometimes. and for some girls its easier to get a weave. the rest of us usually get our hair "did" at LEAST three times a year and thats for just perms or straight perms not for hair cuts or dyes or whatever.

I agree with what OP is trying to say, but I 'No way' this b/c black girls are not the only people that wear waves. Your natural hair can be beautiful if you take care of it. It can be time consuming but if you go on youtube and/or other websites for tips on how to take care of your natural hair, it won't be so bad. I'm going natural very soon (Doing the BC the week of my birthday, November) so I'm researching a lot of stuff about natural hair.

Black girls aren't the only ones who wear weaves. So, it was nice of you to single us out. Personally, I don't like wearing fake hair, but if someone wants to I don't see the problem with it.
