+373 Listening to substitute teachers take attendance makes you feel incompetent in your own mispronunciation skills, as they have truly mastered the art, amirite?

Where I live it seems like nobody can pronounce anybody in our classes names right. They even somehow managed to mess up Rob is an example of how bad they have failed. It has become more funny than frustrating. An example is 3 years ago[yes we have been grouped together for 3 years] there was a girl named Rani Shine pronounced like Ronnie Shine but they teacher pronounced it Rainy Shine.

My name is Taylor. Easy name to pronounce. They seem to be confused that the end is more "lur" than it is "loor" though.

There was this substitute who couldn't pronounce the name Ashley. He said he had never heard of it.

troll

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe he was messing with us, but he had a really unintelligible accent and also couldn't pronounce Jake and Samantha.

A kid named Saktet was usually called Suck it by us and teachers. One day a sub. managed to call him Sack it. We laughed so hard. It was the most creative thing we ever experienced. We still don't know how we didn't come up with that one.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We usually end up calling each other the crazy names the sub calls us

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We do they same thing except it is usually how the front office says it because while they have the records they apparently can't pronounce or write any of the names. It sucks though because they screw every name up so we end up having to find the people they told and correcting them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

you go to a big school huh

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If you are talking about the correction part, I meant they will actually send papers to other schools or whatnot with the wrong name on them so we have to straighten it out. If you are talking about about anything else, well I don't quite understand what you mean.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No I mean I went to a big school. It was so big that people in the office didn't even know who you were unless you got in trouble a lot. They didn't know how to say your name or spell it unless you were always getting sent to the office

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Just curious, what do you consider a big school? Because even in my elementary school, no one in the offices knew who you were.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well Idk about elementary schools but I consider and high school smaller than 1,000 in each grade to be small. I came from a big city and now I live in a small town. Only 200 total kids in the highschool. I didn't know that most highschools were about that size.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know if my school is considered big. It has about 800 people if you include the staff. I can understand how they would know the kids who get in trouble a lot's names but they messed up names like Ethan,Douglas,Rob, Savannah[the school is in the state of Georgia whose first city was Savannah],Emma, etc. I can understand messing up names like Jahi pronounced Ja-he but there is a limit to how bad you can butcher it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ermm sounds right at medium compared to the two highschools I've been to

by Anonymous 12 years ago

God, the kid named Krutant... Everything from Krutah to Crouton was apparently correct in the subs' eyes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've gotten Brianna, Brenda and most recently Brain-uh and Breena. It's brenna. Not that hard.
