Ehh, I think of both. I know these two lesbian old ladies, they go to this restaurant every Friday, and my family goes to that restaurant like once or twice a month on Fridays. We don't have conversations with them, but we say hello, and goodbye to them. And when it's a holiday, we always wish them a happy holiday..

No, I mean exactly what I said. It's the young lesbians that you see making out and/or practically having sex with their girlfriend in public, while you don't often see that with lesbians that are older and more mature. That's why people automatically think of young girls, not older women. Way to try to turn my comment into a homophobia jab...

I don't think young lesbian couples are "forcefully" shoving their lesbianism in everyones faces. They're just being normal teenages. They're not like "HEY EVERYBODY I'M A LESBIAN LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!" No more than older lesbian couples who hold hands in the street are. They are just expressing their love... like a straight person would. In general mature people are more reserved with their feelings for one another.

I actually took it as them turning it into a NON stereotypical homophobic comment. When you describe it like that it seems you think of lesbians as teenage girls having sex like in the movies. I'm 17 andmy gf is 16 and we certainly dont do that. in fact more then half the girls at my high school (no it is not a small school) are lesbians and you NEVER see them (even outside of school) making out or anything. Most people who don't know who they are cant even tell they are lesbians. The ones that make out and have public sex are the ones that arent actually lesbians. those are the people doing it for attention. Those are the ones that give REAL lesbians a bad image.

I never said that all lesbians make out and do other inappropriate things in public. I believe the subject matter was why people think of two young girls making out when "lesbian" is mentioned, versus two happy elderly women. It may not happen at your school, but outside of your small world, there are LOTS of lesbian couples who do inappropriate things in public, at schools and otherwise. This isn't a "I see it all the time in movies" kind of thing; it's a sad reality, whether you individually have been exposed to it or not. And, that kind of happening is the reason why younger lesbians are more often acknowledged as lesbians, rather than elderly women. Point in case.

I just think of lesbians in generally, young and old. Actually, that's not true. The first thing that runs through my mind are a late 20s to early 30s couple who runa political activist site. And then it kind of broadens out from there.
