It doesn't. That's not the point. You need an adult because while you're underage, everything is all about the adult's/parent's permission.

I think there is a point to being forced to watch those kind of movies with parents. A child's mind is impressionable. I'm not saying they shouldn't see certain these kind of movies, but there should be some kind of trusted adult influence to explain certain things.

I agree, but I don't think the rule is there for that reason. It's all legality and parental permissions.
