+226 It's going to be a sad day in the world where textbooks will be replaced by nothing but iPads and Kindles, amirite?

Then we'd have more trees and forests thus more animals. Just because it's what we do doesn't mean it's the best/easiest way.

iPods and Kindles don't come from thin air and trees are a renewable resource that can be planted again.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How many times are the trees planted again? I'm probably biased because I own a kindle, but if technology can save a forest and my back, why will it be a sad day?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, but you still have to remember that trees take a long time to grow.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was hoping for an answer.

Amirite in 1994: It's going to be a sad day in the world when going to the library to look up information will be replaced by nothing but the Internet, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe, but my spinal column will be grateful.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It'll be a very sad day. We won't be able to black-out the teeth of all the smiling boys and girls doing chemistry anymore.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Surely there will be some sort of app for that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Very true

Maybe the kids then will be used to it, but I know that once I had to use a PDF file to do summer homework for AP U.S History, and I couldn't grasp the information as well when I was looking at a screen. It tired my eyes too. When we got to school, and they gave us the textbooks, having the actual book and paper in front of me made it so much easier to retain information. Maybe it's purely psychological, but I find reading things from paper to be much easier than reading from a screen. I am experiencing this right now because I'm reading a book for school using my Kindle app.

I can't wait. It'll be so much easier to fap while studying. Instead of having two books that I keep having to turn my head to see, I just have to hit alt+tab

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Already happened at my school.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm against iPads and Kindles because I'm against assholes making all of these new "advancements" in technology that everybody has to convert to otherwise they'll be a social outcast. I'll save my money, thank you.

How brave! Let's give him an "I'm unwilling to accept change because I don't want change so I can get attention" award!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This is exactly my point.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Your point is you don't like change because it makes you feel good inside?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd rather have those than carry around 8 books plus folders and/or binders.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know about you, but being a college student I adore the opportunity to take a 50 lb textbook costing $200 and instead carry it within a 8 oz piece of equipment and pay $0 to $10 for the book. It's wonderful for my back and my wallet.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

All my school textbooks are loaded on my school laptop and I am so thankful for that. Books are fucking heavy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fuck that, I want a laptop drilled into my head already so I can stop trying to cram all of my classes into my noggin.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

.... i love books, and i wont ever let Kindles or iPads take over my life. they disgust me.
