+252 Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart". amirite?

Check your hearing then, auditory hallucinations are one of tell-tale signs of a psychotic episode.

I take it you aren't real smart then since you obviously find this offensive or you wouldn't be declaring that this person is psychotic. Who are you to declare anything about a person's mental stability; are you a doctor?

Well, I know tone is hard to distinguish over the Internet, but my post was clearly sarcasm; hearing something she admits is different than what is said (which she acknowledged) is a simple yet convenient segue to auditory hallucinations, as referenced in my post. Simply put, my point was (in such a sarcastic tone) that there is in fact a schism between "book smart" and "street smart"; A person might know how to quickly and easily flag down a taxi cab, but that same person might not know the abbreviation on the periodic table for hydrogen. Two different kind of smarts. Furthermore, I may or may not be a doctor, but who are you to declare anything about a person's credentials; are you a God?

That's actual BS bec i'm book smart and get A's. But I have a friend who doesn't get the best grades but she's street smart bec she can get around the city without getting lost and sow her own clothes and do a lot of practical things which makes her quite brilliant.

I find it hard to believe that you're book smart considering you spelled 'sew' wrong. I doubt she can 'pig' her own clothes. Also, learn to write out because, it won't do well in literacy papers. I'm is also capitalized, just for the record. By the way, anyone can get around a city without getting lost with a map or GPS. Nice try, but I still agree with the post, thank you for proving a point.

Some people aren't able to read maps and a GPS isn't always reliable.

I think there's a such thing as "street smarts" and it's very different from book smarts. Common sense, an innate instinct of survival, and the ability to handle almost any given situtation consist of street smarts. On average, most people (at least the ones I know) don't have book smarts AND street smarts. In fact, my family often accuses me of having too much book smarts and not enough street smarts.
