+1,700 It's so unfair that a doctor or a firefighter can work so hard and save so many lives and still earn less in a lifetime then Rihanna or Justin Bieber earns in a year. amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Doctors also spend more in education, and I think firefighters have higher insurance rates

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And teachers get screwed over too! Who taught these celebrities to be creative and believe in themselves? Teachers!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, many teachers [crappy teachers] in my school make over $80,000 a year AND BENEFITS for students failing. Yet, we can't afford vocab books for the students.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But the crappy teachers aren't the ones that inspire kids to do great things with their lives. Most of the time, the best teachers are the underpaid teachers.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That is true. I had 2 amazing teachers, but they barely make $60,000 a year. Granted, that's still about $300 a day, but compared to other teachers who don't teach well, it's despicable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Our Athletic Director makes 100,000 a year and he does such a crappy job.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same at my school! He doesn't even do anything, but he makes so much money. I don't get it. It seems like schools focus more on giving money to people who don't deserve it, rather than teachers who make impacts on childrens' lives. My brother's teacher, who is the worst teacher that school, makes $85,000. My brother had band during a lesson, and when he asked for help with the material, the teacher said, "Figure it out." But my great teacher, who stayed after almost every day to help students, doesn't even make $50,000. I just looked up what my athletic director makes. $130,000. THAT IS A LOT. I don't know what the HELL he does, but he's obviously not doing a good job of it. Except for football. They have amazing everything.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And Cops as well. They work to stop people from doing terrible things, but yet get a lower salary then my dad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Which is 64,000 dollars a year)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pffft. Who needs to live when you can listen to some little kid of an as of yet unidentified gender autotune his voice because he can't sing?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As long as you listen, We could be starving, we could be dying, or we could be dead. As long as you listen, I could be a girl, I could be a boy, or I could be both. As long as you li-li-li-li-li-sten(listen) As long as you li-li-li-li-li-sten(listen).

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's called entertainmet. They sell their image and sell out concerts, and we're the ones who support it. Until you stop, or pay money to watch firefighters save lives, stop complaining. I respect firefighters, doctors and teachers but I still won't pay to watch them do their jobs

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And thaaaaat's capitalism kids!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly @585465 (Anonymous): I don't pay for it directly. i definately wouldn't either, the media is never unbiased in any of their reports on him

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You can live without music, right? But what would you do if there were no doctors, no firefighters? We need them more then we need someone like Lady Gaga.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Never said I couldn't. I was just pointing out the obvious. As much as you think it's wrong, or untrue, it's just how it is

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeees, and I was saying that it shouldn't be that way. Am I saying this wrong or something?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh, I'm sorry. It came off as you saying that I was wrong. I understand now

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wow. You managed to twist a sentence around to make it sound as if I meant it another way. Except... Oh wait, what's this? You know what you just said? Well I'm gonna tell you a little secret about it here hon, so listen carefully: It doesn't make sense. ...I know, right?!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Professional football players get paid more than the President and you watch him do his job on T.V.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You are dumb, we don't watch the president perform, we watch him sometimes so he can address the union. Nobody goes to stadiums to buy beer, hotdogs, and cotton candy to watch Obama speak to his delegates. People buy tickets to watch football and they get rich from all the sports products we buy such as jerseys.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Really? I'm dumb? I'm pretty sure people do go and watch his speeches. I have known of students being asked to go see him speak because they have high grades, wrote an essay etc. What about his first inauguration? Didn't they have a whole stadium for that? Personally I would like the person RUNNING THE COUNTRY to get paid more than someone who runs back and forth with a ball.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you would like it to be that way, but last time I checked there aren't any commercials where the president is supporting a product. That's how most athletes make their money. And and you take the average amount of money a pro athlete makes compared to the entire team/ league he plays for he makes a much smaller % than a doctor does in a hospital. It's just buisness, man

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've been to a presidential speech Obama made and you don't have to paid to watch it, you just have to stand in a long ass line. So yes you are dumb. We don't watch Obama to be entertained. The amount of pay isn't, and shouldn't, have to be proportionate to the gravity of that job. If you feel your purpose in life is to be a firefighter then you should do that no matter how much it pays, yes I value firefighters but they knew they weren't going to be rich when they signed up for that job. I agree with the posts that said I sure wouldn't pay to watch a firefighter do his job but I buy CD's and movies all the time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think the Presidents job is just a TAD BIT more important than a stupid game. We are paying them AND the President. Shockingly enough, I would like my money to go to the person that has the future of the US in his hands not someone who plays a game for a living

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Then donate. What else do you suggest...giving the athletes' salary to the president?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Actors and Musicians get there money from the public, therefore they get as much money as the public spend on them. Theses are also the highest paid actors and musicians in the world, buskers are still musicians. The highest paid doctors, firefighters and teachers in the world get a hell of a lot of money

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Specialist doctors earn shitloads of money. Maybe not as much as Rihanna, but seriously, they earn enough to be as cocky and self obsessed as the stars.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Funny, im doing a term paper called 'athletes getting paid to much' and i almost shit myself when i saw how much they where getting paid to the amount doctors get.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

so you would all rather pay MUCH higher taxes so that a firefighter can be paid what they deserve? Also, they dont do it for the money. they know that when they decide to be one

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That wasn't my point. Maybe you should read things properly before you start poking holes in them. My point is that it's not justified.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Celebrities and professional athletes earn that much because of endorsements. Justin Bieber did a commercial for Proactiv, do you know how much they probably payed him just to do one commercial? Probably more than your parents make in a year. That's just how it is. Also, doctors can earn shitloads of money too. If you're like a well-respected brain surgeon or cardiologist, you have the possibly to make more than enough money. A lot of jobs in the medical field provide great pay if you have the experience and education. My dad makes about $120,000 a year and he's the CEO of a hospital. To wrap it all up, celebrities make so much from endorsements, something average people don't get. It's just the way our society is now.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's not my point. My point is, going through medical school is gruelling. Med students barely have time to sleep, time to eat, and they have to slave away for years before earning a good amount of pay. How is that justified?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not justified. It's just society. That's how life is. There's nothing we can do about it. So please, just accept the fact that celebrities get paid more.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

firefighters are paid by taxes. Doctors may not be making as much as pop stars but they still make a shit load. see we will always need doctors, and a pop star is only popular for so long

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Than*

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's not the celebrities' fault. They're not taking away the money from the firefighters and the nurses, they just got lucky. And I don't really think you can say a doctor's salary is low, because it's a well known fact that doctors are payed quite a lot.
