+195 An obese person buys a wii fit board, figuring it'd be the easiest way to lose a few pounds in their own home without having to humiliate themselves at the gym. They open the box, read the instructions and swear out loud. 'It says the maximum weight is only 330lbs!' The people of Nintendo should make sturdier boards for these people. amirite?

I thought this going to be a joke at first. I got excited for the punchline, and it never came.

My little sister, who is bigger than me but not huge, got on the board. It then said to her "Wow! That's Obese!" And all the little Miis giggled at her. Merry Christmas Michaela, you're a fucking fatass and not even virtual characters have enough respect to hold their opinions.

It really said that?? That's so fucking terrible.

It's fucking great, in my opinion. No person would tell it to her in person, because it's awkward to say it, so at least let a machine do it. They have this little graph from Underweight to Obese and it places your weight on it as a mark, so having it read Obese I think would really open someone's eyes.

She's not obese.

It depends on the height of a person, and the specific calculation and weight-to-height ratio. Yes, if she weighs a certain amount (even if it's less than your weight) to her height it's technically obese. The system isn't wrong, it's a computer. It has no bias.

Very few people are over 330 pounds, so it's probably not worth Nintendo to make the device that much stronger. And obese people shouldn't place all their initiative in one method either.
