Why? The point of having two genders is so that our species can reproduce and continue to exist. That works fine for every other species. Why would we need another one?

I've thought extensively about this before, actually. Three people, each of a different gender, could fall in love with each other. Reproduction would still work too. The male has the sperm, the female has the egg, and the third gender acts as the oven. There could still be couples, but they would constantly be looking for a third person to complete their trio, or one person could be broken up from the trio leaving just a couple.
