Not always true. My Dad sells pumps and pipes and stuff for things like air conditioning in large buildings. His company's product is a bit more expensive than others, but they're lower quality so they don't work as well or last as long. So people buy from my Dad.

I agree, often times the lowest bid isn't accepted and most large construction projects will go to a bidder somewhere in the middle. True Story.
