If you have a child that doesn't listen and constantly lags behind you or runs ahead of you when you're on the street, it could potentially be dangerous. I understand why some parents use them. I've actually seen them working to parents' advantages with very young children.

When my little brother was 2 he ran away all the time even if we were in the backyard. My mom had said she would've loved a kid leash when we went to Disney cause he ran away a few times there.
