+218 It doesn't make any sense why some people think certain actors are hilarious. They are reading from a script...that makes them a good actor, not a comedian, amirite?

there's a difference. people like jim carrey are hilarious because he takes a scene and makes it his own, clearly showing his ability to be really funny

Anyone can read off "funny" lines. in order to make them actually comedic it takes tone and timing.

In a lot of comedy movies there's actually quite a bit of improve as well. But I do agree that the writers of movies are the underdogs.

I was lucky enough to actually watch the movie making process and alot of the lines can actually change just based on what an actor says during rehearsal. Improve being filmed usually staysin the movie if its executed well enough. If not and the director likes it, he will have them say it again. Therefore, an actor can be naturally funny. Even in animated movies, they record the voices first alot of the time.

If good acting only required reading a good script, I wouldn't be "small group servant", "extra pirate", or "small group card" in our school plays. ono I get what you're saying, though.
