You're right. The teacher should get to decide when you have to arrive and when you are late as well. That would be better.

i did one time and my teacher said "it's an indication to say that the lesson should end but it doesnt have to" and one of my friends said "so that means after luch its an indication to say that you should go to class but you dont have to"

ours is just a big EEEEEEEEEEEEE. its obnoxious.
but this issue was brought to our schools attention and so now the bell does dismiss us, no matter what the teacher says:)

Ours is like a Eeh Eeh, and this year we have like three bells. The 'Eeh Eeh' to release, 'Iih Iih' two minute warning, and a 'beeep' saying class has started for ten minutes and you are not allowed in.
