@661002 (Horny_the_Unicorn): no, i know that, but i meant in the show- the pokemon are portrayed as being genderless. that's why they're never referred to as 'he' or 'she' but just by their names.

uhm, i was actually referring to when they say things like "IT's a pikachu!" as opposed to "he's a pikachu!" they always refer to them with 'it' and never indicate gender. i'm only referring to the shows though, since i haven't played the game in ages. calm down, dude.

They do refer to pokemon by genders in the anime. i've heard them refer to pokemon as he or her.
