+221 If you say your whole life is a lie then that means you would be lieing. And since you were lieing that means it is actually the truth which means life is a lie which means you're lieing again. amirite?

Paradox alert!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah... that pissed me off too.

Fist, they left out a lot of steps. This is how the paradox should go: If you say your whole life is a lie, you are lying, because that statement is included in your whole life and therefore you can't be telling the truth, as that would make a paradox. If you are lying, than your whole life is the truth, including that statement, and you are back at the beginning. Second, it doesn't work. The statement "My whole life is a lie" must be a lie. If it is a lie, then you must have made at least one true statement in your life. If you have, then that part of your life is not a lie, and therefore the statement "My whole life is a lie" is a lie. No paradox encountered.

This whole thing is really just the "All Cretans are liars" anti-paradox in disguise.
