This analogy is doesn't make any sense. It's a fact that the police are real, it's not up for debate. And giving atheists the part of "theif" won't win you any converts. A better analogy would be this: There has been a murder and two detectives were dispatched to solve it. A few days later, one of them returns with tons of fingerprints, DNA samples, and other evidence that writes a detailed story of what happened and who killed them. The other detective has gathered no evidence, but has a hunch and believes that it is a different person then the other
detective. Guess who each detective represents.
For people who do not understand, a thief runs away from the police, so the post is saying atheists cannot find God because they are not looking for Him... and possibly trying to avoid Him.
I'm an Atheist. I hate when people try to convert me. You can't make someone who doesn't like asparagus like asparagus, and you can't make me believe. The only evidence that there is a God is that since I decided I was an Atheist, my house became the #1 place for Jehovah's Witnesses to visit.
Yes, we should at least TRY to end these debates. There's no point in arguing about something that will probably never be resolved.
One should stick to their own beliefs and not bother anyone else with them.
@710257 (PersonaNonGrata): The debates will never end until God presents himself to us. Even if we find definitive proof of evolution that cannot be pushed aside, religious figures in the world will claim that it was fabricated. If we create a scientific explanation for how we were created using undeniable logic, they'll call it bogus. gg.
That's why a lot of atheists HATE Christians, because you don't accept our beliefs. Don't insult us, don't tell us we're wrong, and we will do the same. Respect our beliefs, we'll respect yours.
I thought your GOD was the only person who was supposed to be judging people. I don't believe in God because of science, micro-evolution, look it up. Believe it or not, I have a reason I don't believe in him. I'm not just running.
ummm, i didn't know this post would cause so much arguments. I respect your opinions on what you do or don't believe in. This wasn't meant to offend anyone who doesn't believe in God. I also didn't post this to attempt to change your beliefs or anything like that....i heard this and liked it, just wanted to share it because it made me think and i found it interesting...soo, yeah. sorry once again.
Atheists are opposed to God by principle, and they are not open at all to any argument that assumes His existance. This is why there is so much unending religious debate: the logic of the argument is controversial. Anything short of Him appearng to an atheist will convert a true atheist. When they hear an argument against atheism the argue against it, and rarely try to see any logic behind it. Of course, this is true for both sides, but the OP would put it as law-abiding citizens incapable of finding crime bosses.
Atheists aren't opposed to a god by principle. I just don't believe in one. We rarely see logic behind your arguments because they rarely involve logic.
Trust me when I say you are right, because a large percent of Christians speak nothing more than logical fallicies and judgemental doomsday preaching. However some of us make actual sense. Problem is finding someone who does.
just because you do not believe in god it doesn't make you an atheist, atheists have studied all religions carefully, and made an informed decision about their own beliefs
Not true. Atheism is: not believing in a god. Nothing more.
You don't have to examine every diety on the planet ever to come to that conclusion.
About discussing the whole thing:
Both sides starts with a different, even contrary dogma/axioma where all the rest of the argument is based on.
Atheism is a thing inside your head, a gut-feeling that all the god-stuff doesn't make any sense. On that feeling you base your rational arguments.
Just like believing in a god is a gut-feeling that there is something more, on which you base your religious arguments.
All discussions are about the arguments pro or contra (which are constructed after the axioma is made), but they will never be able to touch or attack the axioma itself.
The only thing a religious discussion can do is making yourself understand your own beliefs. Not changing others.
What do you mean unicorns DON'T EXIST??
@710155 (anonymous): Maybe christians are running from the truth, of evolution and that there is no upper beings

Nice.
Plus, the thief wouldn't be looking for the police anyway.
X)
Some people do not want to have anything to do with God. FUCKING ACCEPT IT.
What an idiotic post. There's so much wrong with this I don't know where to start.
Then post a facepalm pic:
Sometimes, that's the only thing you can do.
For people who do not understand, a thief runs away from the police, so the post is saying atheists cannot find God because they are not looking for Him... and possibly trying to avoid Him.
Maybe if the cop is trying to catch a nonexistent thief.
what a condescending and ignorant post.
i'm tempted to 'fake and gay' the shit out of this one.
argues about religious beliefs
argues back about his religious beliefs
@712706 (Kisforkangaroo): yells back crying for getting teamed up on.....then starts trolling..."FAKE AND GAY!!!"......
*yells that your religion is a bunch of balogna"
moronic post

Sad, isn't it ?
Very much so.

This is stupid I'm an atheist and I don't believe in God and it's not that I'm not looking for him I just don't believe in him
I'm pretty sure a thief could find police pretty damn easily...
*thief
stupid whore
You need Jesus.
HAHAHA. aw, im sad you called me a whore. you dont even know me... that is rude.
i searched this to make sure it wasnt here...guess it was. oh well.
Don't sweat it. Someone's ALWAYS going to find something like that.
And how do you know God doesn't exist? Just as you need proof that he exists, I need proof to know he doesn't.
Sorry, burden of proof lies on the theists.
dont be sad that a stranger calls you a stupid whore
Religion war

Elaborate.
Because you are trying to hide from Him, when He is looking for you. :)

That was my point.
Maybe the police can't find a theif that doesn't exist?
Well I believe in unicorns.
woo.
