+245 The ultimate irony: Going through the whole transgender process only to realize you are gay. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dunno about "irony", but the majority of the Sexual Reassignment/Recorrective process is councilling - all trans people whine about it, but the Standards of Care are put in place so that people who are confused/mislead/suffer from internalised homophobia are given help, and not sexual reassignment that they'd later regret.

What? I think they are just trying to say that it would be funny if someone changed genders and then realized they liked the now-same gender.

Wait you were gay before or after the sex change? so are you now straight or were you straight and now gay?

Sexual orientation is different to gender identity. Someone can still be transgender and gay.

Being transgender is about your own gender/sex. Being gay is about the other person's.

:/ I'm gay and transsexual, but I always knew I was attracted to males, even before I started living as a man. Sexual Reassignment can't really change your orientation - if you fancy girls before it, you will afterwards. If you're bi, you will be afterwards. However, humans do naturally change sexual orientation (usually from either straight or gay to bi, or bi to straight or gay, rather a big leap from one gender to the other), and trans people are no exceptions.
