She wasn't wearing three tons of makeup. She had a natural look on. If they used a less attractive girl, people would have been like "re she's so ugh they should have used a prettier girl". You cant win either way, so it's better to just use eye candy.

To be fair, the girl isn't wearing makeup because he finds it attractive - she's wearing it because she's insecure, which is why he's reassuring her that she's perfect the way she is. It might have been a nice touch if he'd wiped off some of the makeup to prove his point, but it's still a cute song/video :)
