+576 Why does everyone focus on the starving people in Africa. I'm sure there are starving people in other continents too, amirite?

There are starving people in our own countries, throughout all of North America (and I'm not talking about those who choose to starve).

Some ridiculously high percentage of the world (mainly in Asia) lives on pretty much only rice. Rice lacks essential nutrients, causing things like vitamin A deficiency which causes blindness. After people (especially small children) become blind, it usually takes about half a year for them to die. It's not exactly starving but it is stemmed from a poor staple diet.

Exactly. Plus, not all Africans are starving. -South African eating a Nutella sandwich, after having had McDonalds and apricot yoghurt yesterday.
