+160 In reality, obese people are no different than drug addicts. They are both harming their body and endangering their health, amirite?

Most of the time, yes. But there are people who gain obscene amounts of weight when their thyroid shuts down.

Drug addicts often become violent and end up harming other people or the drugs hinder their thoughts and make them do things that could hurt other people.

Except that their brain isn't fucked up to the point that drug addicts' are/it doesn't control their life as much, but yes, I get what you're saying. y

It's not illegal to be obese...

Food is an addiction. Just like drugs, some people use it as an escape

It's become an everyday thing now...Every damn day. I get home from work, throw my briefcase on the kitchen counter (damn thing hasn't been cleaned in weeks), and close my curtains. I can just feel it calling to me. Calling my name - it's so inviting. Usually I start with 450mg, 500 if it's an especially rough day. I like to keep it in the freezer; the coldness gives it a frosty feeling... The plastic container easily opens to reveal my prize - that beautiful white substance, the monument to all my pain and joy. I place some of it on a spoon and heat it with a lighter, it goes down easier that way. After its liquified, I ingest it. The creamy liquid slides down my throat and I am in heaven. In my own little personal prison. Man I love Cool Whip.

That ending was worthy of M. Night Shamalan

yes its harmful to them physically, but obese people can still have a job and stuff. Drugs deeply fuck up the addicts' brain.

Drug addicts often have jobs. A doctor came to talk to my class last year in college. He stole about $50,000 worth of Vicodin to fuel his addiction all while maintaining his job.

I think the OP made the wrong ending to the post - perhaps should have taken the physical dependency angle rather than the self-harm angle - i think that is a closer connection. It's hard to compare the damage done by drugs and that done by food, since the food damage is easier to control and get over. Drugs screw with your body AND your mind.

Except you won't see most fat people body slamming people and stealing money from children just to get their next Big Mac.

Except that people don't go to jail for selling fast food. Or for possessing fast food.
