-319 I think the U.S needs monarchy. We obviously can't find a good president, amirite?

How is this not retarded?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because a single, monarchy family controlling a government would never, ever become corrupt after running a country for decades. Just ask ancient China about their dynasties.

Why go that far? Russia was run by a royal family till World War I. France also had a total monarchy till 1789? Monarchy isn't necessarily bad, for example in England they have a constitutional monarchy and it's worked for them for a long time now. Although the king/queen has practically no power.... Btw I do agree that a monarchy has a greater chance of spoiling....

Well, back then, I don't think there was as much tension [late 1700s. And correct me if I'm wrong, but the French Revolution was sort of sparkled by the American Revolution] And Russia was a little less technologically advanced. Now, we have so many more weapons and threats and dangers...And the US is pretty powerful [whether people like it or not, we are powerful] so a monarchy would become corrupt relatively quickly.

Yes, but with a constitutional monarchy the people have power too and the actual royal family is there just for lulz. There is usually a parliamentary system that restricts their powers. And the people are the ones who choose who takes power in the parliament. I really do think America has a good little set up going. The only reason I would want kings/queens is so I can sleep with a princess >:] And then I WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!1!!111! My full proof plan for world domination

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Damn good plan, but only if the princess is hot.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know right? I hope so, oh and also of age :/ Wouldn't want to ruin my plan by getting jailed for pedophilia

So why would a king be any better?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No-one said king, sexist.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm so sick and tired of people complaining about the president. At least he's trying. Do you really think you could do a better job?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha I don't think you understand how monarchies work

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah! We can just make the current president our king! That's what you're saying, right? Then you can have him rule our country until he dies! Note: I'm for Obama, I just thought I'd make this point.

Monarchy, in theory, isn't a bad idea. One person has the interests of their state to heart by nature, and when enforced by a constitution and a free press, human rights and the will of the people could be maintained. However power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Very quickly one of two things would happen: the monarch would grasp more power over the state by circumventing the constitution, (a feature of the American Presidency amongst others), or the people would quickly revolt against the leader. As an Obama troll post, this really failed - sure he ins't living up to the fairy tale expectations, but anything is better than Bush...

What president would be good?Imagine yourself in his shoes, hes doing fine, nothings gotten worse. And because people that don't get voted,by as a monarchy would definately be better, because its in their blood?Go be retarded somewhere else

The most well known monarchy left is constitutional monarchy, which is run by a government, and the royalty involved is just a public icon. They stand there and look pretty.

Yeah but laws in America can still be rejected by the President - are you all suggesting he doesn't have some order of autonomy that would be afforded to a monarch? I mean, if he's already the autocrat over legislation, what difference would it make to have a monarch - at the very least a constitutional monarch. Then there wouldn't be so much political tension because no one would be fighting over, discrediting and undermining the king because its not like anyone's going to do anything about it. (No offence America but your revolutions are pretty piss weak and I can't see them getting any better) Only issue is Who the f*ck would be the monarch?

Congress can override a Presidential veto, impeach, they have the power of the purse - and then theres the Supreme Court...

This post is ridiculous. /discussion.

If we go into a Monarchy, we'll go into the very thing we were fighting to get away from in the Revolutionary War.
