Jersey Shore vs The teenage girl who found a link to a cure for cancer -_-

The Jersey Shore cast makes millions because people like their stupid show. If people hate that they have millions, they should boycott the show.

In Obama's State of the Union he said there were twice as many open jobs for skilled workers as there were skilled workers. This is despite the current unemployment rate. And I'll venture to guess this problem isn't just in America.

I find that brilliant people are able to find higher-paying jobs requiring a set of skills only a few people possess. And I have no idea what OP means by 'ignorance'. This post doesn't make any sense.

I don't understand where this logic comes from. Excluding inheritance, most wealthy people I know of either had an amazing idea or are exceptionally good at what they do.

Some ignorant people may be in the right place at the right time and some brilliant people may go unlucky, but I like my chances much more as a brilliant person than an ignorant person.

That's what negative Nancy's say when they think they're brilliant but don't have the motivation to **DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR SHITTY LIFE**.

You can't defend this post by giving a few really rare examples, like Jersey Shore or Paris Hilton. Most people who are really rich work incredibly hard. A few exceptions doesn't make a rule.

I wouldn't say examples like Jersey Shore and Paris Hilton are "rare" examples. People like that flood the entertainment industry.

There are only so many people in the entertainment industry--it's a pretty small field. Just being lucky enough to get in the industry is rare, and many who do make it in work very hard to get there. (I would like to add that Paris Hilton isn't really a part of the entertainment industry; if she is, she plays a minor role. She's an heiress, so at least someone in her family worked hard at some point for their money). When you compare the people, let's take the Jersey Shore as an example again, who basically did nothing for their money against the millions of people who worked incredibly hard for their money, the ratio is very big. It's simply a matter of the fact that the most vivid cases of people like the Jersey Shore cast stick in our memory--there's a psychological term for it but it's not coming to mind at the moment--making it seem as though most people don't work hard for their money.

How on earth is the entertainment industry a small field? All your points may have been true however many years ago, when talent was a definite point of success. But now, provided you have a pretty face and a writer who knows how to cater to what people listen to, you can get into the industry I'd say fairly easily. With the ability to make everyone sound "good", talent is becoming less vital. And that's just strictly with the music part of the entertainment world. Is every actor a good one? Of course not. In fact, I'd say the majority of actors are borderline awful, with a few who show genuine talent, and as you've said, probably did work hard to get where they are. And I also wouldn't say Paris Hilton is minor; take a look at tabloids, she's in them constantly. And even so, take a look at someone who's become successful in, let's say, the medical field. They very likely make substantially less than most actors and singers do. I do see what you're saying, though.

What I meant was, even though the entertainment industry is huge, the actual number of people who are the face of the industry is small. And being in tabloids doesn't make a person part of the entertainment industry; it makes a person a part of tabloids. There's so much competition to enter the industry nowadays, I don't think you can get in without someone deeming you talented. Anyway, a person's talent is subjective, so what you consider good talent I might not.

I think you're the ignorant one. If you look at the rich people of the world, you'll find that most of the richest people are talented, smart, and/or hard working.
