+231 I don't see why people make such a big deal about starving kids in Africa. I mean there are starving kids on 6 out of the 7 continents, amirite?

Hey moron, this post was already on the home page today. Do you understand the concept of keyword searching?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oreally? Pics or it didn't happen.

http://www.amirite.net/mobile/400409 It was posted a week ago... and even it is a repost. Search "starving Africa". You can't just put a whole post into search and think you're not reposting because you have a couple of words different. Above link is exactly the same concept, and it was homepaged today. So stfu. =P

amirite mobile doesnt have search function.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I use Amirite mobile and mine has it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's total bullshit; 99% of the time I'm on amirite, I'm on mobile. Try scrolling down to the bottom of the page. Don't try to say your phone is too old; I have a 2 1/2 year old smartphone, no 3G, no flash player, and a browser that hasn't been updated in that entire time, and I have search.

lol i never noticed that

You're welcome xD

people should make a big deal about the starving kids in Africa. It is the world's poorest and most troubled continent. We should make a big deal out of other injustices and starving children worldwide as well, but it doesn't mean that we need to stop caring about Africa

by Anonymous 12 years ago

While it's true there is poverty in every country, all of which should be a concern, it generally isn't as extreme as in third world countries, a lot of which are in Africa - like, being poor in Australia isn't comparable. Even if I had nothing tomorrow, no money, only the clothes and shoes I'm wearing, I can still get fresh water from fountains and food from garbage bins, and shelter under a building or bridge or something - compared to a third world country that doesn't even guarantee clean water.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Have you ever been to a 3rd world country in Africa? Because what you have just described is exactly as it is in Africa. There's no difference except for having to mission to find a clean water source.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, I haven't. I just assumed that being poor in a first world country where there's an excess of resources would be far better than being poor in a third world country where there's a lack of resources.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Bat):That hardly makes sense though. What resources are you referring to that are in abundance inn a 1st world country? Because surely there aren't food and clothes lying around on the floors in the US or where ever. If you're poor, its because you can't afford those things to begin with. It's not like if you live in a 1st world country and you're poor you'll still get things but in a 3rd world you won't, either place you won't have anything.

I'll admit, I don't know much about third world countries, but I imagine things like easy access to clean drinking water, having centres to go to, etc., help a lot. I wasn't broke, and I wasn't homeless, but I've spent periods of time without an address, sleeping on mate's couches, going to the Department of Housing everyday, etc., and just stuff like that I was able to wash my clothes for work in public bathroom sinks, that I could go to Youth Centres and LGBT Centres that had free meals in their freezers, and obviously having friends with houses helped me immensely. Like I said, I've never had any first hand experience with underprivileged nations, but I just reckon living somewhere where you can easily get food from garbage dumpsters because people have thrown out burgers with two bites, or having public drinking fountains to fill up your water bottle, plus obviously DoH and job agencies and other government agencies devoted to helping you find a job and find a house is something that people in first world countries have that wouldn't be available to most third world people.

I dunno mate, like, you've probably visited other African countries, so you'd know more about them, I've just been going by what I've seen on telly and heard.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Mmmm, when you put it like that, there is definitely a lot more oppourtunities for people in 1st world countries. I thought you were referring to the very bare essentials like garbage food and old clothes. Ya most African countries I know of don't have all those things, except for maybe my own. So, moral of the story, if you have to choose, be poor in a 1st world country ;)

Damn Antarctica, hogging all the wealth.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It was a joke - "6 out of the 7 continents" - Antarctica is the continent that unliveable, so obviously it doesn't have starving kids.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

While it is true that out of the poorest countries, the worst ones are in Africa, it pisses me off when people think that everyone in Africa is poor and all poor people are in Africa.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My parents were born and raised in Africa; I have to deal with that kind of crap all the time.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

oh i feel so bad for saying this now

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I bet there are starving Eskimo's so doesn't that just make you look like a silly goose.
