You mean freerice.com? The reason they need you to take the quiz (and can't just give them food straight away) is because it costs money to donate rice, and when you take the quiz, the advertisers pay the site because you're looking at their advertisement. Thus, the site owners get the money from the advertisers and buy rice with it, and give it to the ones who need it. If only life was as easy as giving the hungry people food out of thin air...

Lol, it's not like they have that rice in their palm in front of the kid's mouth, and wait until you click on the quiz before they give it.
