Sorry, Gramps. Being old/a war veteran doesn't earn you a "get out of racism free" card, amirite?

Agreed.
Althought it goes back into the debate of "Should we judge the views of the past based on the morals of today?"
by Anonymous13 years ago
In this case it's more like the other way around I think. "Should we judge the views of today based on the morals of the past?" since most veterans still hate the nationallity of the people they were at war against

Which is natural, cause the opposing forces were trying to kill them...but either way I reckon both sides should just reconcile and put aside their differences afterwards...
My grandma was raised in Imperial Japan, and she was a kid in Tokyo when Tokyo was bombed...she was playing outside with her friends when a B-17 was making a low pass, and the gunners opened up on her and her friends with several .50BMG machine guns. She kind of dislikes Americans now, but so would most people if they were almost killed by them...

Its still ignorant for anyone to hate an entire race for something a few did in times of war. (Not that Americans are an actual "race")

very true.

I love the user name of the poster, Flight of the Concords <3

You think that's bad? My grandfather was born in Nazi Germany. He hates EVERYONE.

What if you're Walt Kowalski?
by Anonymous13 years ago
My grandpa fought the Japs in WWII and he refuses to buy ANYTHING Japanese, and he barely talks to my dad because we have a Toyota... I'm guessing they weren't very friendly to him

if a white woman was married to a black man and a black man tries to rob and kill her...she's not going to hate black ppl becuase of it, she is going to hate that SPECIFIC person
by Anonymous13 years ago
Not necessarily, because then why does racism even exist in the first place?
