+119 We've all realized that this healthcare reform is just another way to make us a communist country. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Socialist* But they're similar. And that is very true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Or a way to make sure everyone in our country can get health care. One is only as strong as it's weakest link. If our lower class citizens cannot get health care, we're all screwed. Not just them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Health care is a privilege, not a right. Like driving.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Soo if a child is born in poverty, he doesn't DESERVE health care?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's up to the people to HELP them, granted democracy has it's flaws, but socialism is not an improvement.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And how is that going? Face it, people are too selfish to help others unless they have to. People would rather look the other way and pretend they don't know things are wrong than give up their time/money/status to help them. It's a dog eat dog world and, unfortunately, lower class citizens are toothless dogs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sure, but even they have options, look i understand life sucks, but should us middle class citizens have to pay for it, i mean, we do have our own struggles, why can't college be a more affordable option instead of healthcare? does it really take $20,000 a year to educate? it shouldn't! hell, if college were more affordable, jobs would be so much more attainable...guhh, stupid government!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

First of all, I'm not really sure what options you are talking about. Medicare/medicaid (I'm not sure which is which) sucks. They have terrible coverage and it's difficult to get and won't cover a lot of things. Middle class people, too, struggle with health care. It is not only the lower class that this goes for. Most of the cost is actually going on upperclass people because the democrats understand that further splitting the classes won't help. They are actually working on helping college costs, too, but I'm sure someone will find a way to peg that as communist or socialist, too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Whatever Dumbfuck said that healthcare is not a right is fucking retarded. First off, Read the motherfucking constitution, it says we ALL have a right to life liberty and happiness. Now does healthcare sustain life? Fucking yeah! So shut the fuck up before you speak, hippocritical republican.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think you might mean the Declaration of Independence.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hypocritical* I see you're not taking advantage of free education. Health care doesn't sustain life. The medications do. My ancestors, as did many peoples', didn't have health care. They worked their butts off, but they still couldn't afford it. Did they ask people who could to give money to them? No. They kept working. People aren't entitled to everything. They have to work for it. Is food free? Is your house free? Why should health care be free? (Note how I said that with little to no vulgar language)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"My ancestors, as did many peoples', didn't have health care. They worked their butts off, but they still couldn't afford it. Did they ask people who could to give money to them? No. They kept working."- And then they died of typhus because research wasn't sufficiently funded. People who believe health care as a right develop new medications and technologies to help the poor. "Is food free? Is your house free? Why should health care be free?" Uhhhh yes? Food stamps, Housing development projects, such as in Dorchester mass that provide little to no payments on apartments and houses for lower income families.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"Health care doesn't sustain life. The medications do." And how are you supposed to get the medicine if you don't have health care? Some people with cancer won't go to doctors because they're afraid the bill will burden their family long after they are gone. Is that fair? I go to a private school and my parents are busting their asses to keep me there but I'm not pretentious or stuck-up. I help people whenever I can. I'm a Democrat because I believe in Everyone, not just the wealthy. When I get older, I want to help people with less than me because it makes me feel good. That is why I support the health care reform, because it helps people and saves lives. So what, maybe a rich guy loses some money. Big deal, the poor person needs it more and for our society to advance to its fullest we need to stop being self-absorbed and serve others.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I support the health care reform. At first glance it seems like some sort of retarded socialist spew, but really it's an excellent idea. I mean, OVER a million people don't have health insurance. Just cause you are blessed enough to have it doesn't mean that its a bad idea to try to let everyone have it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

how on earth is this going positive?? as someone else said, charging socialism is one thing, communism is another. given how everyone, politicians of both parties included, is obsessed with money, i don't think american capitalism is going anywhere anytime soon.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Like someone said, socialist is different from communist. But the government needs to step in somewhere and they've stepped in for many other things. Right now, if you lose your job at 50, you have to pay way too much to get healthcare. What's worse is that in not that many years (hard to predict, but it's coming) scientists will be able to take a hair sample, swab of spit or a blood sample and figure out (with some uncertainty) your health future. Are you likely to get Parkisons? What about Alzheimer's? Maybe Dementia? If you lose your job, you're going to have to pay way too much to get healthcare if the answer is yes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

when i first read this i thought you were kidding... troll much?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't understand how this is positive...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not. The Op is just making a blind statement about something without checking the facts.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

'another way'? What are the other ways..?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You haven't heard the new laws about not being able to own land?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hahahahahaha.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you have got to be kidding!? No government has the right to take my fucking land!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh no, this is serious. Your land will be taken in 5-7 business days. Might as well kiss it goodbye.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

why is the government taking my land? My ancestors and I paid for it, thus we own it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you saying communism and universal health care are bad?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, he/she is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you implying communism is good?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm saying it's not as bad as everyone says it is. Everyone thinks that communism is where the government has complete control over everyone and no one has any freedom. This is false. Communism is where the people own everything, but there is no private ownership. From each according to their ability, to each according to their need.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

See: Soviet Russia. Why did it collapse? Everyone had the same benefits, so no one saw a good reason to work. They all got money and food. It just collapsed. What Obama is trying to do isn't AS extreme, but it's similar.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

there's MUCH more to why soviet russia failed, not just simply because people didn't want to work. and no, it's not similar.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Everyone gets the SAME benefits, whether they want to or not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

don't you believe in equality?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I believe every person is equal. Everyone born here, and people who become legal citizens, has the same opportunities. They have a right to free education. They have PLENTY of rights. Some people choose to take advantage of those rights, and others choose to ignore them. If some people choose not to, or don't take full advantage, they won't get as many benefits. People have the ability to work hard, and those who physically/mentally can't are protected by their rights. Some people choose to work hard and make the best of every situation, like the late 1800/early 1900 immigrants. Many of them worked their way up. Now, many don't even try. They know they can get something because the government believes everyone should get something. Those that work hard shouldn't be punished because those who don't. Some hard workers don't get benefits, and it's upsetting. But life isn't fair. It's just life. It's disappointing, but no one can control it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah right, we CAN control it. it's a democracy. BY the people, FOR the people. true, some people don't take advantage of their basic rights, like voting, but should they be PUNISHED for that? should we just take away their right to vote with the argument that "they weren't using it anyways, and we should bestow it on people who WORK HARD for it. life sucks, get over it"? come on, now.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How about you learn some history before you make retarded claims like that?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

God I can't stand ignorance like yours. Almost all countries in Europe have free health care and they aren't communist. In fact, the people of those countries are extremely grateful that they don't have to pay tens of thousands of dollars to keep healthy and in many cases, stay alive. Be less ignorant and realize it's not communism.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why is it that Americans are so opposed to helping each other? European countries and Canada have free health care and we don't have to pay thousands of dollars for getting sick. PS: Communism on paper (but in real life, yeah, it doesn't work) isn't as bad as you're lead to believe. A lot of people (Especially Americans) are opposed to it because they want to get richer and richer and richer instead of living in a country where everyone is taken care of.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

americans are opposed to communism and the like because it's portrayed in the media as this super evil being out to destroy america, and it has been ever since the cold war.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Communism on paper seems logical. In real life, like in Soviet Russia, it fails miserably.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it's so easily manipulated and susceptible to corruption. like Animal Farm.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I haven't read that book [I was too lazy to do Honors English in 8th grade. Why read a book over summer vacation for a class that counts for nothing? I waited until 9th] And yes, communism is so easily manipulated. Which is why it won't work

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you really should read that book, it's only like 90 pages long and really very good. "all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This just proved how uneducated the average American is. When all of the 12 year olds on this site become old enough to vote, we're screwed...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you want to see something truly pathetic? http://maristpoll.marist.edu/wp-content/misc/usapolls/US100617/July%204th_summer%20vacation/Country_From_Which_US_Declared_Independence.htm

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wow. That made me think of moving to some other country...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

First of all even communists say Obama is nothing like him. Second, communism is not bad. Only because corruption was mixed up with it in the past Americans think its horrible. P.S.: I'm twelve.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

canada has free healthcare. and we all know how communist canada is, they just won't admit it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i recently moved to a country that has universal health care, and let me tell you i'm much happier with this system. yes, i have to pay taxes for it every month, and don't really get a choice, but the little amount i DO pay gives me great coverage - in the states i was middle class and paid a lot of money for health insurance yet still had to co-pay for meds, to go to the doctor, etc. here i don't have to think twice about going to a doctor if i'm sick, contemplating whether or not i can afford it. and before anybody starts whining about how you should work for it and pay for insurance yourself - lots of people work but still can't afford it because in america, insurance companies are out for profits, so of course they want to take as much of your money as they can...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my teahcer came into class crying the day after it passed because she moved here from canada because the healthcare quality was so god damn horrible.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There just shouldn't be political posts on this site. Period. The ignorance is so thick you need a chainsaw to get through it. The few people who have any kind of a clue what they're talking about just get shouted down by dumbass kids quoting Fox News. Better stick to the Twilight vs. Potter crap, hating MLIA, and toilet humor.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You can't force people to buy something. It doesn't matter if people are out there with no health care. The solution simply can't involve forcing people to have health care.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

FINALLY! Someone else realizes this too! and for those of you who say everyone should have health care, of course they should. but they also "should" have nice houses, cars, tvs, good food, and clothes. where do we draw the line? we cant rely on the government for everything. that's exactly what russia did and look where they ended up. whoever posted this, i agree with you 100%.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

having healthcare isn't going to make us cross the line and turn the US into a communist country. Half the countries in europe have healthcare, does that automatically make them JUST LIKE communist russia? obviously we can't rely on the government for everything, but we should be able to receive basic rights of humanity from it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Universal Health Care = Good (depending on how we enforce it) and to all the fox news clones, stfu. DONE. this argument is no longer valid.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

true. if the governments give handouts people think 'well why do I need to work for money if I can just get it free?'

by Anonymous 12 years ago
